    C-Ranger 25

Thanks for keeping us updated, Pat, and thanks for the info Jeff. That's great news indeed! Yes, whoever is the lucky recipient of the first production C-Ranger, please give us some feedback. As far as I know, no prospective customer has been able to sea trial the boat.

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

Good observations, Fred. You’ve added a few items to my list of things to check once I get a first hand look. Good news on the V-berth. This boat is nicely set up for overnighting but it would be a show stopper to not have a useable V-berth. In regard to that cabin door, I know a lot of...

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

Great feedback, John. You’re welcome, on the SBS pics Re: cabin door window. Yes, I tend to agree a rectangular window in the door would look best. My first thought was all glass too, but I agree, that just wouldn’t look right. As it is now, when viewed from the cockpit with the door...

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

Thanks, Fred and Robbin for posting the pics! As some of the folks who have one of the C-Ranger tugs on order, and who don’t live in the area, Lorraine and I are clamoring for any scraps of info we can get on it’s development. The boat is really taking shape and we think it’s looking great...

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

I didn't mean to imply that you should add that to your image. I just wanted to know what you thought of the frames in white. I know that stuff takes time - I don't want to make work for you. You did a great job cleaning up the original and adding the mods. It really helps to visualize the...

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

Looks good oldgrowth. Yes, a nice smooth sloop as shown on the rendering is what you'd want. And that V-berth port hole, of course. What do you think of the idea of using white frames on the windows to minimize their size visually? I assume that would be powder coated aluminum.

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

Since we have one of these babies on order, I’ll throw in my two cents regarding “the look” of the prototype. I find myself in the strange position of agreeing with most of the comments made Re: 1) The brow visors definitely need to be colored as shown in oldgrowth’s Photoshop – gel coat, not...

    C-Ranger R25 tug - In the water

Since Pat (I think) said that the R25 made an appearance at the Seattle Yacht Club Opening Day parade through the Montlake Cut, I thought I'd take a look at the web site. What do you all think?

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

OK, here is what I consider to be a major concern with the layout of the R25. With the great amenities provided in the cabin, this boat is obviously intended to be used for occasional weekend or longer stays. The problem I see is that the V-berth is quite small. The V-berth on the CD 25...

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

As of right now, I am going with the 80 hp. That may change when I see the results of the actual on-the-water testing. From what I’ve heard, the test hull will be fitted with a 125 hp diesel so that they can get a complete picture of just how much power is required to move what load. The...

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

Oops! You are correct, John, Jim mentions "float", Anna Leigh said "dock". Either way, I think drifting away from the object you're trying to run a line to while you walk from the helm to the cockpit is the issue he was concerned with, unless I'm not reading that right.

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

David, I think what Jim and others are concerned about is, “unless conditions are perfect it's real hard to get it to sit still next to the float long enough to get a line attached.” It seems to me the next best thing to cutting a door in would be to have a wireless remote for the bow and...

Exactly right, Jim (see the pic of the helm I've added to my album). The controls and control cables would have to be moved to the console.

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

Thanks for posting the pics you took at the Ranger factory, Pat. That’s great, especially for those of us with boats on order that don’t live in the area. It was interesting to see the shot of the stern thruster and rudder (different than on the R21). Understandable, they have their hands...

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

Hey, don’t get rid of the smoke stack, I plan on putting a fog generator up there so I have the total look when I pull into a marina :wink Here’s what the latest spec sheet I have says: Hatches (4), pilothouse roof, opening with screens (Standard Equipment) I'm assuming hatches as seen on the...

What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

I like it! Make the fiberglass piece between the two hatches a separate piece that is backed up by a structural support (aluminum?). The structural support is removable by unscrewing machine screws that thread into molded in T-nuts. That would totally open up the engine bay when you...
