Oil and oil filters on a Honda 50 EFI

IMHO, it's like crossing a flooded road, "IF IN DOUBT, CHANGE IT OUT", the price of a filter is insignificant wrt a big engine service! On edit: Gee whiz Jack, you recently thought you ran out of fuel because you weren't sure how much your tank held or how much was in them... :cry...

    fisheries supply catalog

Brad, apparently they are unlike Defender, in that they don't offer a printed catalog, never saw one myself but have not ordered from them. I have a Defender catalog and account and have ordered things from them and from Jamestown Supply and have their catalog as well but apparently FS doesn't...

Colby, he fixed it already! I think we can quit helping!  I definitely agree with Brent though, we should all get rid of our wing nuts. I think I'll keep Sally though! Charlie

Port Side Bilge Pump Wont Turn Off - Tomcat 255

What year is your 255? I had small vertical acess hatches on my first 2006 255. Replaced with the largest size possible. I had hull #16. My second 2006 255 already had the larger hatches, didn't need the trained monkey with 4 foot arms to do that job anymore. That one was hull #32...

Busy weekend for the Neah Bay Coast Guard

Flares! Don't get me started! Abt 5 years ago, during a blowout repair on the side of interstate 85. I walked away from the tow vehicle dropped three flares only to turn around and find everything covered in red smoke. And semi's coming through the red smoke at 75 miles an hour. Turns out I...

    1995 CD 22 Cruiser, 27500 (Marysville, WA)

Nice boat. Pictures would help. I know you don't have twin 90s on it too. Gonna get a bigger one? You seemed to be having a good time with it! Charlie

valtech fuel now at Antelope point marina on Lake Powell?

Got some abt 10 years ago here in Va at a marina. Ran fine for a fillup in my 22 and never got any more. Got the impression that it was "specially" treated fuel  but didn't taste it. :cry how would one tell w/o a chemical test? Charlie

    GPS for Towing

Sunbeam, I didn't explain it right. I use the Garmin USA in the truck and Garmin Blue Charts, or Navionics while on the water. All on the ipad3, all w/o WiFi once the maps are downloaded. Both of them link with Active Captain. You may need a phone hotspot for an Active Captain link...

    GPS for Towing

Sunbeam, it's called Garmin U.S.A. And the app is free, the maps $50, I think. They also have a Garmin a Blue Chart app, also free, maps about the same price. Once you download them, you don't need wifi to use them. The maps are big, I've got a 64MB iPad, a 16 Mb one may not handle it.

    GPS for Towing

We frequently use an ipad3 on an arm. Pricey but you can't beat the screen size. App is free, map costs about $50 but once you have it, you can use it on the road without wifi (it has a built in GPS). Then, when you get to the launch site, you can put it on the boat, on another arm, and use...

    Closure of San Miguel Island.

Thanks Mike. Capt V may be a highly decorated leader but this kind of publicity will NOT get him looked at favorably by a promotion board. I was looked at a couple of times (early) by boards for flag before I was "in the zone" to be looked at "officially". At that point, having been in for 31...

    Fuel Tank Sending Units

Joe, ACCORDING TO THIS ARTICLE in newer cars, not so much. How many of us let our cars get down to near nothing though? I can't remember the last time I ran out in a car. Most cars these days have a "low fuel light" and it comes on when you should refuel. Our Chrysler T&C light comes on with...

    Closure of San Miguel Island.

Don't understand the "conspiracy" idea! What could it possibly be? The only one I could think of is the Navy worrying about someone getting hurt on UXO and suing them, the NPS or the Fed Govt. If there is UXO there, it cold be a very legitimate concern! I can't believe it would take that...
