Is a C-Dory warranty any good

I wouldn't think C-Dory is responsible, but you should have gotten a package of papers on purchase of all the subassemblies and their warrantees, of which the Teleflex info/warrantee should be found and the labor question is probably covered in the verbiage.

    Not Another Boat Topic

That is exactly what the lapidary machine does, correct. Opals are done both ways, depending on the type of stone. You would need to take a course (many community colleges have them) or look up a local rock and gem club, or, seek out a gemstone cutter to give you the basics of cutting.

    Not Another Boat Topic

Thanks, this is what they look like when cut: I have not cut any of mine yet, the main purpose of my trip was to learn how from a master cutter: Doyle Boyington, before he retires. That done, I have to set up my own "shop" -- actually, all that is needed is a small corner of a room/boat/RV...

    Not Another Boat Topic

I have been out West shooting film, learning to cut gems, and having a blast. A few of you might be interested in some of them: Opals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f442tacA6M Opals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DfrPyp9GV0 Fort Steele: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMvrhNFQRwc...

    DIESEL GETTING UGLY

Agree on both parties. It's all just a game to them, and all you have to do is look to the "Energy Committee" as the "Energy Committee" is concerned with just about everything but energy even in this climate: http://energycommerce.house.gov/ Schedule for next week...

    Clean Boating Act of 2008

Hopefully we would all comply as we did with the "mandatory" Coast Guard registration and sticker of years past: revolt, don't get one, don't send money, do nothing at all and they quickly backed down and rescinded legislation. Time for civil disobedience with some of this stuff.

    Big oil wins another round

Understand your sentiment completely. But I have finally given up. If they want to starve themselves of energy, the very thing that makes up our civilization and freedoms, so be it -- I'm sick of fighting. I don't know if any of you have seen my films or not, but I have flown the entire...

    Big oil wins another round

Could happen. No telling what they'll come up with to "save the planet." Of course, we can't drill a postage stamp piece of ANWR, can't drill the deep Gulf (even though Chevron found a field the size of Saudi's), can't drill off California, can't drill off Florida (although the Chinese are)...

    Mercury engines

So the above article would take the 90 I have far longer than I thought it was built (possibly even to now). It would be worthwhile checking if you use the boat in skinny water (as I do). You can dang near trim a Mercury all the way out of the water and it still pumps coolant (one of the...

    Mercury engines

My Mercury 90's have been flawless, but, they are the Yamaha powerhead models. I understand they are no longer in the lineup. The Merc 200 2 stroke I ran commercially was also flawless, as was the 90 Johnson and 175 Evinrude . . . but the Merc IO I attempted to run was nothing short of Elm...

    Uh Oh!

Well, we can all pat ourselves on the back for being ahead of the times -- we bought a C-Dory! On a serious note -- I already see a lot less boats out than I used to. I love my C-Dory . . .

    Uh Oh!

Buried deep in the Fed statement is the only way this works is if the money is spent on American made goods . . . Simply sending the money overseas doesn't help us.

    Uh Oh!

For the gold in the creek: Pack a sluice like you saw me working, that is your best tool for the creek. Keene Engineering makes several models of that, including a shortie model that will fit in a 5 gallon bucket. That and a small shovel and you're in business. I bought one of these 30 power...

    Uh Oh!

You must have gotten the Excalibur, I have been using it for the past 12 years (with others -- I use them all) -- a top of the line unit (especially for larger gold (jewelry, coins, etc). Good luck with your project!

    Uh Oh!

As far as the gold goes, there's nothing more pleasurable to me than finding my own. Some of you are cruising past or landing on river bars just loaded with the stuff. Here's a brief video of how to do it with minimal expense and with a few items you can easily keep on the boat: Finding Gold...

    Fish Recipes

Agree. Let's not go down the lutefisk road again, although in fairness, what is described above isn't traditional lutefisk as I was forced to eat growing up. I won't even describe the procedure for making it -- it's to horrible to contemplate. If it tastes edible, you didn't make it properly...

    PSA: Tigers

I wonder if that could be used for crowd control -- it certainly seems effective in immobilizing the cameraman. You just never know how dangerous these big cats are until you see one in action!
