    Wild Otter & Recipe

Mellita's was the old Cuban Restaurant on 36th Street Miami (I used to do the runs after engine changes on L10ll's DC10's etc. etc. for Eastern) and this was their specialty: sweet black bean soup and a Cuban sandwich (which would be in stacks to the ceiling (I have their recipe for those too)...

    Baitcasting & Conventional Reels - What's Inside + Star

I put this post up because as you saw I needed to update my Dad's 1944 Service reel since he didn't use the drag system at all and had removed the drag washers. This is what I did: went down to the hardware store and looked through the furniture (handle) parts for felt washers and then the lamp...

    Baitcasting & Conventional Reels - What's Inside + Star

Capt. Mack: don't know if you know this, but the old house we were in at Hernando Beach (I'd been there off and on since 1962) was a WWI flounder fishery. As you look W from HB to the right of the channel is Centipede Bay (that whole flat) and huge ones were gigged there (especially just before...

    Baitcasting & Conventional Reels - What's Inside + Star

Don't know the age of the reel - but if old it's probably already lasted a lifetime for someone's fishing. Most of the old ones already have. Keep it lubed and clean and simply pass it on. BTW: you can update the washer system to carbons (or anything else you choose) when needed. Good luck...

Do you strap your boat down when trailering?

"Notice that a lot of power boats do not have straps on them." I've seen 3 on the road (in various pieces) and 2 on the ground at the ramp.

    Baitcasting & Conventional Reels - What's Inside + Star

You're certainly welcome. A buddy of mine also saw the film and emailed me and I'll post his pertinent info for you below. Matt Hi Matt I use older Penn 113H reels, all made in USA for tarpon fishing. I buy the reels used on Ebay for a fraction of new reels, of which most are now made in...

Portable Stoves - What do you use?

    John S. McCain Collision

I saw the results of the increasing reliance on black boxes in aviation as well, to the point that I will no longer fly commercial. As far as navigation, I would recommend the following to anyone: The European Discovery of America: Vol 2, The Southern Voyages A.D. 1492-1616 -- Samuel Eliot...

    Best Baked Beanie Weenies

Yep, I just found a business write-up on them: "The Heinz factory in Wigan, England, is the largest baked bean factory in the world. The factory was opened in 1959 and currently produces over 3 million cans each day. The beans are shipped from North America and rehydrated once they arrive at...

    Best Baked Beanie Weenies

Harvey, MartyP: you're both welcome and yes it is extremely easy no matter how done. As for the modifications - I'm sure there's a whole bunch more - Leftover: Connie takes it out of the fridge, puts it on her salad and done . . . I'm more traditional - has to be warmed back up for me. Again...

    Best Baked Beanie Weenies

5 beef hot dogs (I use Nathan's - not a sin to use more) - sliced thick 1/2" (slice thin & they float and burn) 1/2 large onion chopped 3/4 cup cane syrup (cane juice should be the only ingredient - all others are cut with corn syrup, water, etc. and will crystalize) 2 28 oz cans Bush's "Country...

What to do about cracking hull where rub rail is fastened.

As B.A. said, thickened epoxy does the trick - at the end of the crack (both ends if applicable) find the very tip of it and drill a small hole (stop drill it) with a #30 drill bit. This will turn linear stress into circular and stop the crack from growing (if you catch the very tip of it)...

    Cajun Seasoning Recipe

I might make 50 gal for our church. How did he make it? In several 10 gal pots? It was made in a 50 gallon stainless vat. 10 gallon pots would work just fine - and probably be a whole lot less stressful (easier to handle, cook down, watch, etc.) His chili would be a good money-maker for...

Locking Through - how the big boys do it

https://youtu.be/VnBI7zt4-vw Have a cousin in serious trouble with cancer and went up to see him and the family near the St. Lawrence Seaway and had the chance to film some very professional lock throughs. Hope you enjoy it - being there was awesome.

    Cajun Seasoning Recipe

I hope you do and everyone incorporates this into their family recipe books. My father missed his calling in life - should have been a chef (was trained by one). The chili was his most requested recipe of all and certainly the family favorite.
