Any Members of America's Great Loop Cruisers' Association?

We've got the perfect boats for the Great Loop.Yes CDs and Ventures are smaller than the vast majority of boats that do the LOOP but that gives us many advantages. We found that when the weather occasionally turned nasty the big guys stayed at anchorage or port just like us. They didn't want to...

How long will a Honda last?

In the back of my mind I thought Halcyon Days had over 2000 on the Hondas.I should have a lot of cruising to go on the 135. Jim-We can't make the Keys this time. How about the ST Johns river in the fall? Thanks again for having Linda & I over. It made the trip home the next day much easier. If...

We were having a discussion about the longevity of outboards. Our Honda 135 has about 850 hrs now. Assuming good maintenance about how many hours are people getting before it's not worth fixing? I know there are C Brats who have done Alot of cruising. Thanks. Alan

    Trailer bunkboard carpeting

I think I'll try the plastic. It sounds like I may need to get longer SS screws because one C dory owner commented to Cabelas that one loosened prematurely with the provided hardware. Thanks for all the comments. Alan

    Another trailer question

On our recent shake down cruise beside the bunkboard carpeting failing, the brakes locked up in reverse when we backed into a large shallow pot hole at the old ramp.It backs up fine on level ground so can I assume it isn't the reverse lockout solenoid malfunctioning?Any suggestions? It's a...

Anybody using AGM battery with Yamaha OB's

This discussion has me wondering about my battery situation. One Lead acid went dead and I had an AGM27 that I replaced it with.Is it a problem having one AGM and one lead acid? It's a CC23 with Honda135. Ignorance is bliss until something goes wrong.

    23' Venture Questions

Our Cape Cruiser 23 has a Honda 135 and seems to be the right amount of power for us.We can cruise at 4400 at 25 knots when the weathers good. Thought about the 150 but probably not necessary.

    wipers

Thanks Boris! This isn't an excuse but when I had the boat serviced by a mechanic he told me that he couldn't grease those fittings because he didn't have a 90 degree grease gun. Work smarter not harder. Thanks again.

    wipers

Hi Jim- We had to replace our wipers in Virginia and the marina didn't carry them.My memory is a little fuzzy but we went to autozone or some other chain and to my surprise they had the the replacement wipers. Every once in a while you get lucky. We're dusting off the boat and getting back into...

    Changing gear oil

It's a pain in the neck but you really need to pull the boat to change the lower unit lube. It's also a good idea to have it out for the oil change.I think Honda recommends 100 hours for the lower unit lube change but a number of people have told me that's very conservative and probably...
