    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

Lightening! You will have warning from weather radio or clouds before the arrival of an electrical storm. Our immediate reaction to an approaching storm -- we either tied at a marina and got off the boat and into a protected place, or if that wasn't possible, we anchored in a cove where...

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

The best advice for folks starting a Great Loop (In our opinion): TAKE YOUR TIME!! You will enjoy your cruise and see so much more if you simply SLOW DOWN! See the side channels, circumnavigate NYC, dock at the Statue of Liberty, visit West Point, go...

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

A suggestion - bring along a simple field guide to the birds of the eastern US. The Okeechobee, for starters, is full of great birds in the Springtime, and a knowledge of the birds you will be seeing and 'camping' with will add to the pleasure of your cruise.

Lake Powell for a long time

We lived in the southwest before, during, and since the construction of Glen Canyon Dam. El and I canoed the Glen Canyon of the Colorado river, before the dam. We saw the beauty of a canyon more impressive than the Grand Canyon. Sorry, we have run most all the canyons of the Colorado, and...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Sun went out in the Pacific NW until sometime next Spring. Better have your batteries well-charged before cruising to Portland -- rain predicted for days down that way. Those roof-top solar chargers will give the raindrops a nice chuckle as they land on the wet surfaces. 🌨💧💦 😅

Adding a sink to the 25 head

If you weren't a boating person, adding a sink to your head would sound like a tough anatomical operation. 😄

    A thought

A special pleasure, for us, while in the cruising world, was the companionship. Here, disjunct from 'everyday' life, folks relax, enjoy and share. The duties and obligations of 'town life' are forgotten and chatting, laughing, and comments about the natural world surrounding us become the norm...

    Porta Potti conversion

We agree. Makes no sense. We used a porta potti on our boat for years, always dumping at a marina.

    canoe on Silver Creek

Spot on, Roger. Before we had a C--Dory, in our early years of marriage, we had canoes. One for flat water and a C-2 for white water. We paddled rivers all over the country, and our three kids shared most of our vacation time (and we were both teachers) on the waterways in canoes. Great family...

C-Brats: Have you ever owned a VW bus/camper?

Our bus died the year vw upped the bus horsepower to 55. Our failed bus was soon joined by many others in the scrap pile that year of vw engine failure. The company never claimed any responsibility for their engineering failure, much like their initial denial this year of their rigging...

C-Brats: Have you ever owned a VW bus/camper?

Yep. Back in the mid-sixties. Engine broke down totally, even though only a few years old, on a drive in Newfoundland with couple of little kids aboard with us. Hauled away the muserable wreck and sold for scrap. Now, have a Toyota Tundra 189,000 miles and going along fine.
