    C-Dory has been sold

Agree, Dr. Bob -- But if I'm speculating right, Jeff M. will be back, and that would be a huge plus IMO. Just speculation!! At my ripe years I just sit rock and speculate (dream). Duster

    The birthday boy

Happy birthday, young feller - and to Nancy too! 1943 a good year - I was flying TBM torpedo bombers in WWII, and thought I was an old man! Have a great trip north, dear friends, Dusty

    Deception Pass at Max Flood

Boat size is not a problem in Canoe Pass. I use it often and even used it with my 85' Burger... when there is a heavy ebb and a strong wind from the west the main channel is not a good choice -- go Canoe but watch out for the kayaks!! And it's a good idea to use the appropriate sound signal...

    R21 on Portland Craig's list....

Sure looks good. For up in the Pac NW the price seems fair. Great little boats and a whole bunch more seaworthy than they look. 18 mpg?? Oh my! Many changes on the 21ec, but these oldies have a lot of charm. My 21ec was way cool. Dusty

TOM CAT 255 Pre Purchase Inquiry

Times have changed! A radioman used to sit at a desk and send and receive code... a tech repaired stuff. In the old days a radioman could do both -- they sent me to an electronic tech school, and I could work on the equipment. Now, each specializes in his particular field. It would take pages...

TOM CAT 255 Pre Purchase Inquiry

Whew! Expanding on here is tough. Too many USN and USMC Brats still can use slingshots. 37 years in the USN - enlisted as a radioman and electronic tech, then flight school. Chief Aviation Pilot with temporary commission during WWII as a torpedo bomber pilot flying off carriers against Japan...

TOM CAT 255 Pre Purchase Inquiry

Yup, one big ship. I was operations officer in Independence, and then exec for a while, then went on to skipper the Rankin (AKA103) and Boxer. Fun way to make a living -- if you like ulcers. Dusty

TOM CAT 255 Pre Purchase Inquiry

Brent - I probably didn't label my post right. Should have said Boeing Jetfoil. Seaflite ran 3 of these in the islands from about 1975-78 -- I was often involved as a consultant. Financial disaster. I think they went on to Hongkong. As I recall (memory not too good now), one was also used from...

TOM CAT 255 Pre Purchase Inquiry

After boating in the area for several years - many years ago - and working a project for the big Boeing cat -- I don't know of a small cat I'd recommend... driving into that kind of sea is a chore. Dusty (Unlimited tonnage ocean master)

    Re-power decision

Normally 1100 hours should be just broken in - not broken. Do your own compression test with the throttles open... might get a surprise. If they run okay, keep 'em. Dusty

    EQ Marine

Bill sez, "But yeah...kickin' dogs, young or old, just ain't my thang." Dusty sez, "Whew! Now I can relax and put my walking shoes away."

    C-Series vs E-Series vs Garmin + Autopilot....

Charlie, Not to worry. I have the Simrad pilot with the E120/4KW - works great. Dusty

    EQ Marine

Les is out of town for a while on a trip to eastern WA. Of course I don't, and couldn't speak for EQ, but as a long time EQ customer (over 22 years), and at EQ on a daily basis, I think that I understand the situation. When EQ first started with C Dory there were 2 models - 16 and 22. Kathy...

    C-Series vs E-Series vs Garmin + Autopilot....

Don! Don  Old Navy captains slow?? Naaaah. Just the east coast ones   -- When my little half-arsed marine electronics company was trying to keep a positive bottom line, I'll admit a bias toward KISS. Most customers were commercial fisherman who depended on radar...
