    C-Series vs E-Series vs Garmin + Autopilot....

No knock on Garmin. Haven't used one of their radars yet and look forward to getting one on the water for a good test. Have lots of Garmin other stuff -- even a little Garmin stock. All good, and very user-friendly. We all tend to support our purchases (guilty!!), but I'm fortunate to be able to...

    C-Series vs E-Series vs Garmin + Autopilot....

There are always different points of view, and it all depends on how you plan to use the radar. I regularily use both Furuno and RayNav. My personal choice is the RayNav E120/4 KW. Lots of bang the buck, and the 4 KW makes a big difference IN OUR AREA. In heavy rain (in the Pac NW??) it's the...

    Canada By Water

Point Roberts! Fun place -- we lived there when I had a business in Canada and of course had to communicate with customs daily. My car license was KGB-... lots of fun. "Here comes that KGB guy," and other such comments. Owned a nice slip there, and wish I still had it. Of course it was a real...

    Which New Reel For Christmas?

Back in my youth when I was still in my 70s, a single speed was okay -- now a 2-speed Avet makes deep halibut fishing at least doable. Sounds expensive, but when you look at the total cost -- just a hiccup. And I'd have more than a hiccup if Diane knew what the Avet 2-speed costs. Guess I'd be...

    Skagit Orca Alternative to C-Dory?

I'd never knock the Orca. BUT, load that rascal with full fuel, all the fishing gear (it's an offshore fishing machine), 5 or 6 guys, and Wow! Like any deep-V, the entire transition speeds from hull speed to plane -- nada. And at 18-20 knots or so, y'ain't sipping fuel. I had dreams of...

    Happy Holidays

Good advice, Joe. The new Honda 90 EFI is a jewel IMO. Turbine smooth, and turns to 6300 without a grunt. No history on it yet, of course. EFI is OK, I agree. OTOH I've had thousand of hours absolutely trouble free with carb engines. Even have an old Yami 100 now that is like new after 7 years...

    Skagit Orca Alternative to C-Dory?

Joe, That's a great boat at a great price (condition??). It should pass everything but the fuel dock. Heavy, very well built (I can almost see the original plant from my deck. Only Joe can afford the 18-wheeler tow vehicle. C-Dory built mine, but the work crew was the...

    Medical Myths?

Don, Didn't get an answer to my email - you want this Silent Victory set? You or the local library -- best WWII Submarine books I've seen. Dusty

    Happy Holidays

Not sure, but I think Honda dropped the carbs on the 90 when they came out with the new EFI engine. I have thousands of trouble-free hours on the old Honda 90 carb engines. Duster

    Happy Holidays

Shux, the are both about as trouble free as you can get. I ran a pair of the new Honda 90's for a while, and they are super. Light, quiet, and strong. The 90 produces over 100 h.p. at max rpm. But Yami and Suzy are just as reliable IMO. All depends on your dealer. I had great service from my 90...

    Which New Reel For Christmas?

Ditto! Avet, Avet, then big Penn. Always a 2-speed. Swiftsure and lots of current at 500 ft. is a chore. Dusty

    Endorsed Vendor

Yep, Rick has done a few boats for me too - great work, but the line forms up rapidly, so take a ticket!! He did a beautiful job on the new Rosborough going to Bend, OR. Dusty

    Smoke from 4-stroke

Gee, 50 degree water is swimmin' nekkid time up here. Only had one Suzy for a short period of time, but it's not uncommon for my Yami and Hondas to "steam" for a while. Up in the Pac NW they get quite a bit of moisture inside. I'd certainly contact your dealer though -- and Marc may chime in...
