    Securing the anchor

Thanks for the tips. I've got a Lewmar as well (22 Cruiser)... not fully installed yet, taking my time since this is the first time I've done anything this major on the boat. Making holes, properly sealing, doing some rewiring, etc. I'm not in a hurry!' Good to see there's a wired remote...

    Securing the anchor

Is there a situation you can imagine the wireless FOB would work and a hard wired switch mounted just inside the forward hatch wouldn't? Because that's my current plan. Just curious. I'm thinking I'd rather divert the wireless FOB money to a MOB+. I actually had the FOB in my cart when I bought...

    Balsa Core Delamination

The things of nightmares... Has anyone considered dipping their boat in a giant vat of Flex Seal? :D :D Kind of a joke, kind of not. Having the older model cruiser where water collects forward in the cockpit at the bulkhead, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to add extra protection...

    What's "Level"?

I didn't see that as a dig at you, Wesley. I do appreciate you sharing your research and perspectives! I had a feeling I'd get some interesting responses in this thread - and, as usual, you guys didn't let me down! Much appreciated.

    What's "Level"?

I'm curious what y'all do when installing things that you'd usually take some care to "level" if you were installing them in your house or other land-based environment. I mean, I get it - it's a boat, and "level" depends on the weight distribution within the boat... any motion of the surface of...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

No kidding! These are the magnets I used, by the way... very strong... the magnets on the outside of the hull will find the inside magnets anywhere in the rode locker. You probably want to at least put them on the right side of the boat to minimize the high speed impact - ha...

    Congrats! Same model I chose.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I'm working on getting my windlass installed - if any of you are scratching your head about how to locate the drain hole in the anchor rode locker, this is how I did it and it seemed to work well. I dropped a magnet (actually a stack of two disk-type magnets) into the locker: Then I matched...

    Amazing Rescue

Very impressive... I guess I'll back off on the Coast Guard jokes for a little while. Great commercial for EPIRBs... and survival suits.

    Antenna SWR on land

100% agree with solder over crimp with coaxial connectors with the caveat that soldering can be done wrong too (very wrong). And, actually, crimps can be pretty reliable if you get the high $$ connectors and the VERY high $$$$ crimpers - but most mortals will not spend the money. I did...

    Vote, please

Not even in the US? Nice. The choice goes far beyond the simple binary one you propose, EVEN if what you say is accurate and unbiased... which it's not.

    Trailering, engines up or down?

@Harvey - can you expand on this please? What are your concerns? Looking at it mechanically, nothing jumps out at me as a potential problem. It certainly seems to support the weight, and I definitely don't trust my clearance to tow with the outboard completely (or mostly) down. I've got a Yamaha...

    Trailering, engines up or down?

Engine up with transom saver. The clearance might be OK, but I don't trust it.

    Who has a 12" chartplotter...

Back in the day (my last run was in '90 I think) we didn't get any escorts that I remember until we were getting pretty close to the floating bridge. The CO made a point to tell me that it was critical to be lined up on the bridge opening and verify the bridge was in fact open at 2 miles out...

    Who has a 12" chartplotter...

Last time I came in through Juan de Fuca, I was riding up on the sail of a 600 ft long black cylinder powered by uranium. I honestly don't know if they run AIS. I suppose they probably do.

    Boat Launching Alternative

Those videos help me understand my trailer better - thanks for posting both of them! I've got two spares (on on each side) but they can also flip down into position to roll like the first video... and I also have an alternate extended tongue that adds at least ten feet or so of reach. I may...

    Who has a 12" chartplotter...

Thanks everyone for input... I'm currently leaning towards moving the compass and dropping the MFD right down in front. Looking into what it'll take to transplant the compass tomorrow. If that goes well, might just keep rolling - we'll see. I do appreciate all the advice! The unit I have is the...
