Being a former Baha HA HA participant, I can tell you that the publisher of Lat38 and his large catamaran (Profligate) motored most of the way to Cabo from San Diego, as did most of the 100+ sailing vessels.

I agree with Montegue and also like Maple Bay. If you have a reciprocal the Maple Bay Yacht Club is terrific. Ladysmith is interesting and a good place to walk around town. Or if you like the city, Victoria is a short jaunt around the corner

We've gone to Roche Harbor for years and every year it gets shorter and shorter. A couple of years ago the illegal beach fireworks outdid the main event. I have been told the best thing is to cruise between Friday Harbor and Fisherman's Bay and see them both.

I run at 4500 rpm and with a 60hp Yamaha I average around 19-22 knots with 2 onboard. The fastest I have had the boat is 29 knots on flat water with one onboard. I am carrying 18 gallons of fuel and an 8 hp kicker.

James, The wife is very understanding, especially when I hide the girlfriend in the forepeak and close the hatch. It's a little tough to hide anyone on the 16' but the son is a good talker and keeps the wife occupied in conversation.
