    New pivoting anchor roller position

No such thing as a dumb question when it comes to boats. A pivoting roller helps to ensure that the anchor drops as soon as you command the windlass to do so, without having to touch the anchor. With the short roller which was standard on my 19, I had to stand on the berth and nudge the anchor...

    New pivoting anchor roller position

I installed my roller in the same manner that Joe did with Sea Wolf, and there is plenty of clearance between the bow and anchor. Here is Joe's installation: Here is mine: Les - Just moving the pivot to a different existing hole may work with yours. My roller may not be "level" as...

    New pivoting anchor roller position

I have the same roller. Remove the bolt which connects the pivoting piece to the fixed frame. Slide the pivot forward and use the hole which is just aft of where the bolt is in your photo.

    It's time to chill

The house battery and charger are under the port seat. The weight of the battery, charger, cabling, and control panel on the port side is about 74 pounds. The freezer and mounting scheme is about 44 pounds on the starboard side, so 30 pounds in the freezer will balance the boat nicely.

    It's time to chill

Greg has a great setup. He has made lots of useful mods to his 19. I chose the "movable" panels for several reasons. I can lay the panels in a location which gives the best performance at the moment, pointing at the sun and minimizing shadows from the radar dome or other structures. If I...

    It's time to chill

After reading many excellent C-Brat threads about keeping food cool/frozen for extended cruises, I decided to splurge on an Iceco VL45 fridge/freezer. This will allow us to freeze "blue ice" for swapping into the cooler, and also take frozen food, and make ice cubes in small silicone trays...

Has anybody moved/removed a swim platform?

The "swim ladder" which came on our boat only had 2 small steps, and did not extend very far into the water. There was nothing to grab onto to pull yourself up. A person wearing winter clothing would have a tough time getting back in the boat if they fell overboard. Even if my wife were...

Hood Canal/Puget Sound Marina with Lift and Parking

Hi Harvey, Thanks for the info. Have you left your truck and trailer overnight there for say a week? I'm leery of someone messing with my rig if they see it solo for days. I am contemplating reserving an RV site for a week at Port Hudson. I could camp out of my boat and make day trips, or...

    Nootka Sound BC Trip

John and Mark, Your trip reports are wonderful. And seeing a 16-footer in all of these places gives me more confidence in where I could take my 19. Lots of good places to dream about for the hopefully near future.

Hood Canal/Puget Sound Marina with Lift and Parking

Bob, I have not had Zenith in a sling, and there are no bunk cutouts. I saw a video of a Dory at Cap Sante where they jacked up the stern to slip the strap under. I am not sure if that is a common practice at other slings. I know that someday I may l have to dip my trailer in salt, but I'm...

Hood Canal/Puget Sound Marina with Lift and Parking

Hello Standas, Thank you very much for that generous offer. Once this covid stuff is behind us, I just might take you up on that. That ramp would be a great place to launch.

Hood Canal/Puget Sound Marina with Lift and Parking

I am planning to expand my cruising horizons by dipping my toes into salt water, beginning with trips through Hood Canal and Puget Sound. Since my trailer has all-new running gear (axle, hubs, disc brakes, wheels, coupler, etc.), I will not consider putting it in salt water. Therefore, I am...
