    20 miles off Santa Cruz!

Last year while coming back from Catalina we had a whale come up next to our boat (we stopped) and just 10' in back of us....it was thrilling, from a distance it they don't look that big and powerful...it was thrilling...we felt very special and were thrilled... we happily would have stayed 100...

Time to get afloat again - some maintenance questions

Hi Tom I sure would change those tires....I bought mine from America's tires and got a 10 year warranty....you will never wear them out...but the sun will kill em..and they fall apart... I think the Goodyear trailer tires are the best... You can drain you fuel tanks easily by removing the...

Getting Balance Right the First Time

What makes this real thrilling is while on the Delta Cruise I broke my back...tripped on some broken sidewalk...had surgery in September and while it does not hurt now.... moving and lifting 50 pound batteries may be thrilling. Joel SEA3PO

Getting Balance Right the First Time

I just got my Optmia batteries...and they are really heavy....100 lbs.. They will be mounted just behind the porta pot...I made a compartment in that space and they fit easily....now I need to rewire the boat...each motor to run off a single battery... The major reason I am doing all this is...

Getting Balance Right the First Time

I have Permatrims on my twin Yamaha 40's...and trim tabs....I bought the automatic controller for the trim tab unit and love it...you set it once and it is always trying to keep the boat in that position...really helps with folks moving around in the cabin... Underway the boat is a dream...

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

I talked to a marine surveyor about using welding cable and he said no...not approved....so I looked on EBAY and found a place that is selling marine cable at a lower price than any marine outlet. The cable that was initially supplied was some pretty light stuff....think I will go up one...

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

Just realized I already have a locker....years ago I moved the porta potty to the front of the space already there, and built a bulkhead just in back of it...I used that area to carry tools and medical supplies...what I will do is just build a shelf above that and divide the area into two...

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

I think Roger King has the best idea...remove the batteries from the starboard locker and move the batteries up into the port bunk area...mine has foam in that area but I will just build a locker and put the weight up forward and on the port side (light side) Joel SEA3PO

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

I also thought...to replace the batteries with a pair of light weight batteries...as is I use West Marine Starting batteries at about 40 lb. each...80 pounds is a bunch...I bet I could reduce that weight by at least 30 lb... expensive but would help lots...(I think)......or I could go on a...

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

Maybe I could get rid of the ice chest in the back and replace it with a narrower but taller ice chest on the light side next to the aft bulkhead...

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

It can't be the weight of food onboard as junk food is just empty calories....and not that heavy.... and I do try to pack any heavy stuff on the left side...I have a propane tank with maybe 2.5 gallons of propane on the left side ....but the boat has always sat low (about 2") on the right...

Why does my boat always sit lopsided ?

Under the topic of batteries I asked this question as I always thought it was because of the batteries.... but then I thought, everyone else has at least two batteries on that side...so what goes ?? it has always sat lopsided...I only carry about 8 gallons of fresh water in the tank so it may be...

    Twin 40s battery question

I use two group 24 starting batteries... and my boat always sits lower in the water on the battery side..... I always assumed it was that all the weight was on that side....I usually don't carry more than 8 to 10 gallons of water in the tank.... so if all you'all have the same setup what is...

Pat...I hated the surge brakes that came with my trailer...but found that once I installed spring bars on my hitch the surge brakes work much better...the spring bars really improve the towing...much smoother now.
