    Fishing Puget Sound

Your Derby results don't suprise me Gary as they are consistent with most reports the past month or so. I was very suprised at the action I witnessed on Saturday. We probably saw 20 kings landed over the course of the morning. I hope we're talking a late run of fish as I'm not looking...

    Compass Location?

Thanks Sea Bran for the photos. Nice install job. That might just be the ticket for me. Tim

    Compass Location?

I'm with you Moose. I also put my compass on the side of the wall that I write with although I'd ultimately prefer not to have to look down to read it. I get a similar sensation when taking my eyes off the road to use my cell phone in the truck.

    Fishing Puget Sound

Don't forget area 11 fellers. Did great last saturday fishing for kings once we figured out the right depth. Five fish 8-22 lbs. between 9:00 and 11:30. Flasher-herring caught four out of five with the largest caught on a white squid. As others were catching fish also, several over 20 lbs...

    Compass Location?

What I would like to find is a good sized (readable) compass I could hang below the electronic shelf on the right side. But, I haven't noticed one designed for this type of installation. Perhaps somebody could point me in the right direction? Seems to me this location would almost be in the...

    CD25 Swamped in Cook Inlet

Thought I would chip in here and share my two cents. I agree with Tyboo in respect to the safe use of a windlass. Most of our windlasses are strong enough to pull the boat under most circumstances without the aid of motor power. The windlass may grunt a bit and slow down but reasonably...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Buzz bombs should work Fred. It looks like they have expanded their color selection to include some flashy mylar. I've used Point Wilson Darts in the past with reasonable success when I can convince myself to quit trolling which is not very often. Four ounce in pearl, blue/silver...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Thought I would try to develop some more momentum on identifying potential meeting places throughout the course of the two week duration. It appears that at least one rondeveaux spot has been identified for the 10th. and 11th. at Gorge Harbor. Any of you early birds made definite plans yet...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Waiting to hear about the results of a special elk hunt drawing Pat, but my chances are slim and I'm not holding my breath. Pam indicated we were going on a boat trip and not a fishing excursion so most of the fishing gear will be staying home to make room for stuff like food and clothes...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Pam and I are still planning on this trip. I will know for sure the end of July if it's two weeks or one. Thinking two at this time. Will leave River City Monday, September 5 early, driving to Lund or Cambell River and launching the next morning. Haven't any other plans besides getting up...

BCK, Your scarin me! Always wondered how to take on this kind of stuff since I haven't been exposed to it. This explains the indentation on your helm seat.

    04/01 - 04/03 Cathlamet, WA

Dan, I was waiting for Helen-O Larry to respond as he is the official Cathlamet expert, but he's probably FISHIN so I will make a few comments in an effort to to reassure you. This fishery is not a Blue Creek affair for sure although it may appear so rafted up at the marina Saturday night...

If C-Dory was made of wood

Thanks Dusty for the definition of "yar". I've added this to my Pirate word list and I now have two. Yar and Arrrrrg!

Hey, that would be great Larry. I'm a little uncertain if I will be showing up Friday night or Saturday morning as I write. Will know later in the week and will post my plans or contact you directly.

    04/01 - 04/03 Cathlamet, WA

Planning on fishing Cathlamet this weekend. Have you heard of any reports Larry? Sounds like things are picking up a bit upstream. Maybe this shot of rain will get fish moving?

If C-Dory was made of wood

Not sure what a "yar" is Dusty but I sure was impressed particularly with his interior wood work. During my shop visit he spent some time showing me a 30 something footer they were in the finishing stages of completing. Pretty amazing.

If C-Dory was made of wood

Check out www.devlinboat.com. Local (Olympia, Wa.) wood boat builder utilizing the stitch and glue method. The boats under construction section has great photos of many different size boats throught the building processes. I went to his (Sam Devlin's) shop about five years ago, got a great...
