It you keep spending large sums of money on the boat Tom, you may be sleeping on it which would deter bear vandalism. However, my guess is that Marina is hooked and supports the boat improvements like Harriet. Not a bad problem to have. 🙂 Ken
Good news from Waggoner:
Canada Border Covid-19 Requirements Ending?
The latest news indicates that Canadian government sources have confirmed that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has agreed to let a cabinet order, that mandates Covid-19 vaccination requirements to cross the Canadian border...
Thanks for sharing your adventures Jay. I really appreciate your tips and advice as we prepped for our Prince William Sound trip this spring. Safe travels home. I smoothed out some of the frost heaves for you on my trip earlier. Maybe see you at Bridge Bay on Yellowstone. Headed that way ith...
We use the original Origo alcohol stove that came in our boat and love it. I read that Dometic bought out Origo but don’t know if they sell a new alcohol stove. This last trip we also brought a jet boil for quick coffee in the morning. Ken
I installed the same package as Lil Teal in the starboard Vberth dugout. Only difference is the CCU is mounted under the helm on the Vberth side of the bulkhead. The shadow drive is installed but in hindsight not worth it. I did a lot of comparing notes with Colby doing the install (thanks...
Colby, I ended up parking on the city street parking. The city told me I could do long term parking there. With follow up after I was in AK they informed they no longer accommodated long term parking. A little frustrated so am returning to Prince Rupert from Prince of Wales Is to load boat and...
Just wanted to give anyone considering boating out of Prince Rupert a heads up that there is is no long term parking option there. Per Wagoner’s Cruising Guide, we contacted Coastal Propane several weeks ago and got a confirmed reservation for long term parking for the truck and trailer. Upon...
I have a new Honda 90 XLRT 25” long shaft mounted on Lochsa. Although it was not intentional, I ended up with a long shaft. After talking to some marine fabricators and friend who built his own boat for rough water Alaska use, they pointed out some advantages of the long shaft. I had the...
That is about the same cost for the Seastar/Telex kit and necessary hose pairs I ordered from WM…BOAT! I’m planning to install the shadow drive so hopefully it will all come together as some items are back ordered. Headed to Prince Rupert on May 19. 🙂
Good point, I’ll let you know when I get it. I would have just had everything made up locally but the only hose they had was 1/4” ID, 6,000 psi. My plan now is to make the T connections inside the starboard hatch in the Vberth. I mounted the pump in the hatch also. I’m trying to clean up the...
After much discussion with Seastar and Garmin I bit the bullet and will upgrade to the new Seastar hose that is 5/16” or 7.9mm ID, 1,000 psi. They said the autopilot will function with the older Baystar tubing which is .21” or 5.5 mm, however it would not perform as it should with the limited...
I will try the 3/8 compression nuts without the inner nipple in the fitting. Garmin recommends all the components be 1,000 psi rated. I’m not sure that’s the case but I don’t see any other alternatives. Thanks again. Ken
Can any of you tell me what components you used from the pump to “
T” into the hydraulic steering tubing. I have Baystar hydraulic steering. I had some custom hose made up from the Garmin pump which is 5 ORB to a “T”. I am having trouble finding the correct compression fitting to use between...
I wonder what science is being employed as the US southern border continues to be overwhelmed. If vaccination and public health was important, this would not be happening.
It looks like you will be running an electric motor by mandate in WA in 8 years. It seems to me the US could reach the most efficient combination of all available energy sources and technologies in the shortest period of time by fully utilizing fossil fuels...
Chuck, I was considering the 1.0 l pump. I talked to a couple different Garmin tech reps that recommended the 1.2 l pump that I purchased. They advised that it should do everything wanted on a 22’ slow or fast in rough water so hopefully that was a good choice.
