I just ordered a Garmin Reactor 40 auto pilot. I’m researching the installation and it seems the space available on Lochsa will make it challenging. Where are others placing the components, particularly the pump? Any pics also appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ken

Thank you Bob. That’s what I needed. I have the factory 10 awg primary wire running from the battery to the helm fuse distribution panel. I have read some other conflicting info that a breaker should never be used but rather a fuse in this application. Any thoughts on that. Ken

My 2021 Honda BF90 came with 4 awg wire to the starboard lazerette battery. The length is about 6 ft from the motor head to the 1,2, both switch in the lazerette.

I recently added two AGM house batteries in addition to the start battery. The way I read the ABYC standards there should be a circuit breaker between the house batteries and the distribution system to protect that length of wire between the batteries and distribution system behind the helm...

For all the reasons stated we are planning to put in at Valdez and avoid Whittier except for fuel when on that side of the Sound. Valdez truck and trailer parking is only $4.25/day dockside and cheaper yet with a five minute walk. Good advice. Thank you.

All the indicators are that fuel prices will significantly increase. This will obviously impact some of our boating plans. We can all decide for ourselves what led us here. My interest was not to start a political discussion but rather to keep current on marine fuel prices. Our tentative plans...

I installed the Wallas 1300 last year. I have been using Jet A fuel after talking with Scan Marine. I get it at the pump at the local airport and it is half the cost of kerosine.

Jay, I do have NMEA 2000 networked between the motor and the plotter so maybe the auto pilot is compatible. However, the Reactor 40 I was looking at did not list my 740s as compatible. Sounds like some black magic involved🙂
