Anybody within 300 Miles North of Charleston Able to Help?

Pat, What oil change interval are you shooting for? 100 hrs, 200 hrs? If your running at 2000 RPM or less, is it OK to extend the hours vs. running at 4000 RPM. I have changed the oil with the extraction pumps a few times. Once at Campbell River, BC and once in the Broughtons. When on...

Catalina Island: day dream inducing footage

Jake, Most mornings the water is OK for crossing in either direction. The wind usually comes up in the afternoon. Storms are the exception and cause problems, watch the weather and buoy reports. My experience is in the spring and summer months.

Pat, I second what Jim said on taking care of the First Mate. I got this air conditioner at Walmart for less than $100. It will run on a Honda 2000, maybe on a Honda 1000. It fits in the center opening window on a CD 25. PVC pipe legs and a plastic piece for the bottom. Sunbrella shroud...

Not one but two Marinauts for sale!!

I'm not aware that the factory ever offered saddle tanks in any of the C-Dory 22' boats. I put saddle tanks in the '84 Classic/Angler we owned, but it was an owner installed upgrade. I put a 20 gallon tank under each gunnel and retained the 12 gallon under the motorwell tank for a 52 gallon...

    SOS Distress Light

I bought one of the strobes a few years ago when they were around $65. I keep it to remain legal with the flare requirement. If a distress situation occurs, I will first light some of the many out of date flares I've accumulated over the years

    Ice Chest Comparison

My go-to cooler is a K2. I wonder why they weren't rated. I holds ice better that a Pelican. I bought a Summit 70 "scratch and dent" for under $200 shipped. http://www.k2-coolers.com/

Pat, We have had Sirius radio for 10 years or so. We use a portable unit, and move it from truck to RV to boat or wherever. It worked as far north as Skagway Ak and south well into Mexico. Your always up on what's going on in the world. Plus your choice of music genre.

Pat, This is probably the storage yard I remembered from the 2006 trip. http://www.gladesboatstorage.com/rates.htm It looks like they store about anything. $2.50/ft per month, for trailer at 30'= $75.00 plus $25/ month for a truck, so about $100/month for truck and trailer.

    Forward Bimini Mount for fishing

Every C-dory we have had, has featured the two position bimini mount. Above is the TC 255 version. and with the bimini up. This photo also features a dingy rack that I built and used for a couple of cruises. Not a great idea in hindsight.

We came down the Caloosahatchee from Lake Okeechobee in 2006. As I remember there was a large storage facility on the south side of the river a number of miles above Ft. Meyers, but I don't remember a name. Maybe Wild Blue, Jim can remember. There were quite a few acres of boats dry docked...

Fix for Leaky Hot Water Shower Faucet

I had the shower hot flex hose pop off under the galley cabinet. The hose clamp was not tight enough. The only problem was I was in the process of showering. Dashing naked and soap covered, to the water pressure switch. Then cleaning out the cabinet enough to re-attach the hose, so I could...

Lake Powell for a long time

Tear down the dam and the lights go out for a lot of Southern California! Also the winter vegetables of Yuma and the Imperial Valley dry up. The article says for at least 20 years. I'm 70, I think I'm safe to go to Lake Powell for as long as I can make it. Good luck to the rest of you!

2017 Great time to explore Canada's Waterways

Just wondering, if something that's free, will be too crowded to enjoy? The web site for the free parks pass was crashed for three days due to the volume of requests. The lockage and moorage site hasn't gone active yet.

    New Tomcat owner with questions

Brennan, We have spent a lot of time in Puerto Escondito. We stayed in the RV park at Tripui and had a few friends that were homeowners there. The last time we were there, was a month before the fire that destroyed all the homes. July 25th 2004 I'll look and see if I still have GPS spots...

    New Tomcat owner with questions

Brennan, I think the others have covered your issues and I have nothing to add. I was just wondering what areas of the Sea of Cortez you boat in? We used to spend the winters in Mag Bay La Paz and Cabo San Lucas, and some summer time in the Loreto, Mulege and Conception area, also Bahia de...
