Thinking of Going to All Chain

The chain is not noisy at all if you put a short a short snubber on it. If room allows, I like to let out the 100' of chain and about 5' to 10' of rope. This eliminates the need for the snubber and the rope does not touch bottom or get muddy. Chain comes up much cleaner than a rope lying on the...

Thinking of Going to All Chain

We have changed our anchor rode set up several times since we've have had our boat (22 cruiser) and what we have settled on is 175' of three strand nylon with 100' of 1/4" chain using a tapered long splice that I did myself. Before that we had 250' 8 plait and 50' of chain. The 8 plait gave us...

    Bleed Baystar Steering

I installed a new steering system in our 22 over the winter and used this system to bleed it after install. It worked like a charm and is easy for one person to do without spilling or wasting any fluid. My new Baystar system came with 2 quarts of their expensive fluid, as they figure some will...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I forgot that I did one other project during the shut down. I installed a freshwater wash down on the boat. This should be really nice while out fishing. Will be able to do a nice job filleting fish right on the boat with this. also will be nice for washing down that new motor. This was a pretty...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Well this is what I have done to our C-Dory 22 cruiser, not today but since the shut down. I had lots of time to work on things. Disassembled inspected and greased trailer bearings. Replaced water pump, thermostat, spark plugs and changed oil in engine and lower unit of Honda BF 90 Did all...

    New generation Yamaha F90 opinions

No experience here with that new 90, but I know you are considering time up in Canada and I thing the Yamaha choice is a good one for going north. (I know there used to be severe hassle with HondaUS and Honda Canada issues. Kind of like taking your new Dodge RAM into the Chev dealer for service...

    New generation Yamaha F90 opinions

Thanks guys for the info you have provided on this motor. Apparently not to many C-Brat C-Dorys have been powered/repowered with this motor. I have heard only good things about it from other sources. So we decided to go ahead and repower with a new Yamaha F90LB. The Honda was a good motor and...

2005 Honda 4 stroke with carbs. Carb flooding and other

We had a 2004 Honda BF90A until very recently. In the six years that we had it we were religious about running non ethynol fuel always treated with Sta-Bil. Even with that, acouple years ago it started to run a bit rough and had a miss at lower RPMs. A guy showed me a trick for cleaning these...

    wallis blower not working

If your eco fan is rattling at any speed, the motor may be worn out (bearings worn or shaft has been bent). You can get a new motor on amazon for about $12. Very easy to change out. will go any speed quietly with new motor. That was our experience.

    squealing Honda outboard

We have a 2004 Honda BF90A. When we run the solas 3 blade aluminum prop we get a ringing/squealing just a little above an idle while in gear only. this is the speed that we use going in and out of the marinas and it drives me crazy. We have another 4 blade prop that I prefer to run most of the...

    New generation Yamaha F90 opinions

Thanks Teufelshunde. The Troll Control sounds like a good feature and I would want it if we get this motor. Is there anyone else out there using the Yamaha F90B or a F115 motor on a 22?

    New generation Yamaha F90 opinions

We are thinking of re powering our 2004 22 Cruiser. I am leaning towards the Yamaha F90. They seem to be a popular choice from way back. most of the posts I see when searching the forum are about the earlier version of the Yamaha 90. I am specifically looking for those that have first hand...

    Securing anchor to anchor roller

Our set up looks very similar to Phil Garner's photo, only we use a stainless steel grab hook to connect to the anchor chain and then tie it off to the cleat. It is easy to connect and easy to disconnect and it has never fallen off the chain. I can stand up in the V birth hatch to connect and...

Salish Sea Covid-19 Closure Status 2020

Harvey We have been using their guides the last 2 summers and have found them to be accurate and very convenient. It is nice to have all their information in a digital format. We have it installed on our ipad that we keep mounted on the dash. The ipad is used primarily for a second chart...

Honda BF90A kicker motor tie bar mount.

I am in the process of replacing our hydraulic steering on our 2004 22 cruiser. The original system used an older drag link style Baystar hc4600 steering ram. when we first purchased the boat I installed a plate (Honda #53234-zw1-010) on the BF90A that provides a mount for the kicker motor tie...

4 blade vs. 3 blade propellers

Here is something to think about when you go to a different prop. Our boat originally came with a four blade composite prop. The boat ran very well with it. We took it for a freshwater bath at lake Crescent WA and about 3/4 around the lake at a 15 kt per hr cruise the motor started vibrating...

I’m thinking of replacing my plotter w/ an 12.9“ IPad

I can say that we too have had great success using an ipad without having phone service. We purchased an older ipad for a couple hundred dollars from ebay. it is cellular capable with GPS and has wi-fi. I purchased the Navionics ap a couple years ago and downloaded all the maps I would need over...

Importance of 4x4 or AWD or Locking Diff at boat launch?

You Can probably get by with 2 wheel drive 90% to 95% of the time, but the one time you needed the 4x4 you will be patting yourself on the back for having it and it really does not cost you that much more and will also give back to you on resale down the road. You will not have the worry of if...

    Both transducers losing bottom

While we have a 22 cruiser and not a Tomcat, We do have the same transducer. We had the same problem and the solution ended up being to position it about a 3/8" lower than the hull instead of even with it as the instructions state. It works perfect now.
