    Moving battery bank to galley

This a great informational thread. I am seriously thinking of putting LiFePO4 in my 25 Cruiser. I would be installing 2 100 ah batteries or a single 230 ah. What would be helpful, to me at least, is a wiring diagram that includes: -Fuses and where they should be located -Fuse amperage at each...

Lifting 23' off trailer to paint.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE8l7o-c8lY When I repainted the bottom of our 25 I did it the hard way. Borrowed 3 bottle jacks and placed 2 under aft corners on blocks to raise them off ground. Made a cradle for bow and placed 3rd jack under that and jacked up. Made sure I spread the load...

    suzuki DF175 hp performance figures

Dennis, We just got the Suzuki 175 this spring and have been very happy with it. It has the Suzuki SMG4 digital gauge that provides fuel burn, mpg, speed through the NMEA 2000 system. At cruise of 20 mph we average around 2.5 mpg with the engine running at 4200 rpm. Surprisingly, we can get...

    Westport Wa.

Think about joining SnoKing Puget Sound Anglers. Ron Garner, mentioned above, just did a presentation at their June meeting on fishing Westport for salmon. I was not in attendance. He's at every meeting, so you could introduce yourself and join and gain a lot of knowledge. Several members there...

    Marine head repair

I don't know sh*t about it. :) It may be time to go with a composting head. We put an Airhead in our boat and it is wonderful. Upfront cost, yes, but simplicity and convenience. No more planning for a pump out or looking for one. Also, no parts to buy.

2024 SE Alaska cruise with 13 year old granddaughter

Wrenny, You'll look at that book years from now and remember exactly the time, place and circumstances surrounding what happened to it. That is really priceless, in my opinion. Did you realize that some of the best ideas and memories come from the times that we are not in our normal routine...

New (used) lower unit, a new noise, an other variables

There's also a thing called "prop sing." Google it and you'll learn a bunch. Might be what you have with that noisy prop. On a another boat I had, changed to a different prop and it made noise at a certain rpm. No noise under and above that rpm range.

I would put the old prop on and see what happens.

Oh Boy, getting excited here! Just brought home the boat from Sportcraft Marina in Portland with a brand new Suzuki 175! Old Honda 150 gave it up out at Sekiu fishing so we got her a new motor a couple years early! Happy that Jay and Jolee are out at Sucia already. Super excited that the...

Cracked! - Need a lower unit for Honda BF40 (1997)

    1) Put the lower unit on that is priced in the middle of the range. 2) Run it. 3) Keep on eye on newer used motors or... 4) When you sell the other 16, use some of the proceeds to purchase a brand new motor for the boat you are going to keep. That's what I would do and I over analyze...

Cracked! - Need a lower unit for Honda BF40 (1997)

Are you talking about the 16 you are keeping or selling? If it is the one you are selling, just fix it and send it down the road. If it's the one you are keeping then you'll have to think about your piece of mind. If it were me, I'd probably put the lower unit on it and run it. Then keep an...

Cracked! - Need a lower unit for Honda BF40 (1997)

All those things to maintain is a lot for sure. When I owned 2 boats, a cruiser and a fishing boat, travel trailer, 3 vehicles and the house, it was too much. We know have one boat, the 25 Cruiser, which serves both cruising and fishing. It sure has taken the pressure off. My suggestion...

Cracked! - Need a lower unit for Honda BF40 (1997)

IMHO I believe it is best to just purchase a lower unit, period. It will fit. Gear ratio is of no significance when your motor is 40/50 hp on a 16 C-Dory. I hope you don't take this wrong, not trying to offend, but try to avoid, at all costs, "Analysis Paralysis." It has bitten me in the...
