    C-Dory as a "home office"?

Fairbro - They were wrong. The interest paid on boats that meet specific requirements can be written off as the boat qualifies as a second home.

    The Weather in Seattle

I keep my boat in the harbor (that's harbour for you Canadians) at Blaine, Washington. Was planning a trip this weekend as the high has set in. It's cold, but calm and sunny. My only problem now is that the whole harbor has frozen over. There's about 1/4 mile of ice between my boat and open...

    fishing in B.C.?

B.C. has saltwater fishing opportunites year round. For Coho and Chinook (Silvers and Kings), that's primarily a summer season. We had good luck limiting out in mid-June in Bamfield. Nice Chinook, up to about 30 lbs. That trip was on the early side. July, August and September are usually...

    Yacht Tenders

I think that a number of people think that a C-dory makes a pretty good yacht tender!

Should torque steer trim tabs be set on new TomCats?

I would guess that prop walk is part of what you are experiencing. I would also guess that the wide engine spacing is the greater part of the equation. On one engine, as stated above, you will see improvement by lifting one engine out of the water to reduce drag. Ultimately, to go straight...

latest word on engine size for CD22

Downside - just the upfront cost of the 115 vs. the 90. The 90 is not going to be working harder at a given speed. It just won't have the same upper end. These two Suzuki's are the same engine. Same Bore, Same Stroke. The 115 is tuned and electronically allowed to operate at a higher RPM.

    Cost of a slip

I am in Bellingham, Washington. My 36' slip is $200 per month. There's a 5-10% discount available if paid in a lump sum at the beginning of the year. We don't have to worry about stuff like finding a winter slip.

    C-Dory vs. Arima

Having owned an Arima, I wouldn't plan on it running softly in even moderate chop. They are very flat boats in the rear section and pound quite a bit. Like the C-dory, this is the main reason that the Arima 21' can run with a 90 HP engine. That being said, they are a better fishing boat...

    Yamaha 115 on a CD 22?

The C-dory website still shows max HP at 100. Their website doesn't get updated very often, so there may have been a change. Suzuki's 115HP is the same engine as their 90HP. Same weight, just tuned up. Honda's 115HP is a significantly larger engine than their 90HP.

A face only a mother could love

From my experience, outdrives don't have issues with the type of engine that they are mounted to. In the Northwest at least you see them mounted to diesel's all the time on boats like Sea Sport and Osprey. You do have a significant issue in warmer waters (Florida) with higher rates of...

    C-Dory vs. SeaSport

Blueback, Some of the "quietness" in this regard is that the fuel consumption figures quoted in an earlier post for the Sea Sport are way on the high side for the models most comparable to the C-dory's. At least at normal cruise speeds, you could burn 20 plus gallons per hour in their 32' cat...

insulating mat for under v berth

Probably best checking with your local lumber yard. There are several drainage products that are similar and much cheaper. We sell a product called "Home Slicker" in 3 ft. wide by 50 ft long rolls for about $90 per roll. It's made to be installed on top of the sheathing and housewrap, but...

    New usage for the E-80...

Not sure of the specifics on the monthly billing, but you need to buy a sirius receiver for the e-80. Its on the Raymarine web site with a suggested retail price of $1000.00!

Keep Up With Me, You Slackers!

For those of us recent "joiners" that is a daunting standard to keep up with. If you keep making around 2 posts a day and I (with a grand total of 6 posts) make 3 posts a day, I'll catch up to you in five or six years. At any rate, with a new C-dory on the way for June or July, I look...

    Looking to buy

The used 25' C-Dory Cruiser is still in Blaine. You can take a look at it at www.yachtworld.com and type in C-Dory for boat manufacturer. The price on the site is $79,000 plus or minus. I've looked at this boat a couple of times but can't figure out how a 2004 boat shows so poorly. A little...

    Generator Question

For those of you using any of the small generators. . . How are you using them? In charging the batteries, do you need to connect them directly to the battery that you wish to charge? If so, do you need to disconnect every thing else that is wired to the battery before charging. Or, can...

    Sticky Steering

Based on the age of the boat and size of the motor, my guess is that you're running a mechanical (cable driven) steering system. Given that assumption, here's my two cents. After a period of time (two years, ten years whatever) the cables near the outboard begin to corrode and stick. Once...

hey you northerners, whats with the funny reels

Not from B.C., but from Bellingham so I guess I'm close enough. I do use mooching reels when salmon fishing. Have a pretty basic Daiwa reel and an Islander MR2 which is the big fly reel type set up in discussed earlier. Islander also makes the MR2 in and anti-reverse setup for those that are...
