does the chain/rope wind up on the unit and stay or does it drop the chain in the locker as it winds?

Went for its maiden voyage and it ran Perfectly!!!!! :D Hour and a half and not a hiccup.Very pleased. Now im going to add a windlass, couple downriggers,and tint the windows.
