    Run Down Battery

I suspect that different dealers rig the boats differently. I believe Cutter installs two batteries as standard equipment, a very good idea. You could check with Ruthie, but I think all of their spec sheets specify two.

Hi Josh, and welcome! For info on the Eastern Shore gathering, go to the "Upcoming Events" section on the home page, and then click on the "Eastern Shore...June 3-5" link. We'd love to see you and show around our boats. As others have said, there's no reason you can't do everything you've...

    06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

El and Bill, you asked about crab cake recipes. I’m surprised nobody jumped in – you can usually get some pretty good arguments going about who’s recipe is best. I learned long ago never to choose between my wife’s crab cakes or my mother’s – all I’ll say is that I could easily live on either...

    Teachers?

I guess I qualify, as a professor at Washington College. Ok, I'll admit I'm old-fashioned and still lecture, but I also do a LOT of one-on-one work with students, and most of our classes are pretty small. My wife qualifies too - Liz is also an archaeologist - she now runs our public...

    06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

Any of the dates you mentioned are good for us Tom. Only ones that are impossible right now are May 28-29 and July 23-24. June 3-4 would be great. Chestertown Marina looks like a distant second to the options you've mentioned so far. Although it's in town and next to a park, there's no pool...

    06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

Terrific idea Tom! Count us in, and we'll be happy to help with planning/logistics since we're nearby. Rock Hall would be a great place for a gathering, and you've got a great facility. In a previous thread, some folks suggested that they might head for the Chester River at the end of May, to...

    Boat/fishing Related X-mas presents

Between the two of us: 2 rods & reels, a new cooler with cushion top, set of "unbreakable" glasses (we'll see), teak towel rack, towel with a blue crab to go on it (ok, a predictable gift), new hand-lines for crabbing, with fancy bait hooks on the end... and Santa delivered the battery charger...

    Merry Christmas to all.......

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New year to all of the C-Brats.... and many thanks for making our first year with a C-Dory so much more fun! John, Liz and Baxter the cat on Lizzie Ann

Unused gas in a 22' cruiser

Concur with topping off tanks for the winter and using stabilizer. In addition to promoting condensation, excess air in the tank speeds up deterioration of the fuel. Colder temps in winter also should slow down deterioration. The other big reason I don't drain the tanks is that I never know...

is the 22' right for me?

Thanks for the nice words about Chestertown, El and Bill. We like it too! The Tea Party is always at the end of May - I'll check with the town this week to see what the exact dates are and post them. For any in the area who are interested, it's a great little festival - you can check it out...

    Hours per season

Took delivery of Lizzie Ann in June this summer and were away for a month of prime boating, but put on just over 120 hours.

is the 22' right for me?

To each their own on the heater, I guess. I'm a right-coaster on the Chesapeake who really likes the Wallas. When I was looking at options, the dealer about had me convinced that over-heating from the Wallas stove would just be too much in our hot, humid summers. Answers to my queries on this...

    SCUBA

Hey Ty, Have to agree with Fishtales on the dive platform. My 22 gets uncomfortable with more than 2 divers and a tender. Not enough cockpit space. If you go that route or go with a 25, choose the swim platform carefully - most have ladders that aren't long enough and insufficent handholds...

    Down Payment on a New 22' C-Dory

Congratulations on the new boat! We took delivery of a 22 this summer, and planning for it was almost as much fun as using it. I went through a lot of the same choices you're facing - for what it's worth, here's my take. First, good choice on the 90 hp. I love the Honda 90, and can't...

    06/19 - 06/20 - Potomac River Cruise

Good news, bad news. On the good side :thup , we finally have the Lizzie Ann in the water and rigged. What a terrific boat! Bad news :thdown is that we can't make this weekend's event. We had hoped to have my father-in-law moved by the middle of this week, but delays mean that we have to...

Hi and questions about C-Dory - any divers out there?

I always go down and check the anchor and set it securely first thing. Of course the best idea is to have someone top-side while you're diving, but that doesn't always work out. John

Hi and questions about C-Dory - any divers out there?

Hi Paul, As a marine archaeologist, I've done a lot of diving from many different small boats over the years. My answer may be premature, since we haven't yet picked up our 22 cruiser, but my wife and I wouldn't have a boat that we couldn't dive from. I think I can project onto the C-Dory, and...

    Fuel Flow Computer

I'm rigging a new 22 and went with the Floscan 7000 (http://www.floscan.com/ModelSelection/marine/models/multifunction/series7000.html). Haven't had it in the water yet, so I can't tell you how it will work, but I wanted the multiple functions (hour meter, tach, flow meter and total fuel...

    06/19 - 06/20 - Potomac River Cruise

That's a nice idea on the christening, Charlie! I'm superstitious though - do we dare motor that far before doing the ceremony? I guess we could risk it for the benefit of having so many other brats to welcome Lizzie Ann into the fold. It's now looking like we can pick the boat up next week...
