    tomcat 255 questions

OK with up to 6 adults for a day trip...but it will be a bit tight. We take 6 of us out for harbor cruises and afternoons of anchoring...it's a bit tight in the cockpit...but no one ever complains. 150s are ideal...anything less and you're running the engines a bit hard to maintain cruising...

    Free TomCat Cushions Available

OK, I will keep you in mind in case the shipping costs are too high for the first responder. Not sure yet how to pack these…. After getting a price for a custom fit mattress of about $1800, we bought an "InnerSpace RV Mattress" on Amazon for $249. It's called a "short queen" and it fits...

    Free TomCat Cushions Available

If any TomCat owner needs a set of factory cushions for the forward berth, I'd be happy to send you mine, which I replaced with a mattress. Their yours...no charge except for shipping. Fabric color is factory gray, and they are spotless.

Thank you Wefing's - once again!

I bought my 2009 TomCat with Suzuki 150s from Marc and live 1000 miles away. Looking back at all the boats I've owned over the past 60 years or so, he has provided the best service of all the dealers I've worked with. Frankly, if more dealers were like Wefings, the boating industry would be in...

Ordering our New 2015 Tomcat Friday

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your new TomCat as much as we do. It sounds like you've really thought it out and are equipping it with some great gear. After three years we now have nearly 400 hours on ours and after another summer on the Chesapeake, we'll have it towed down to the Keys...

Best Trailer for A TomCat 255?

Marc Grove recommended and sold me a Float-On for my TomCat, and I couldn't be happier. The factory, in Vero Beach, FL, did some service work, and they were very responsive and even arranged for delivering it to my next destination.

    View from the Keys

Hi Bob and Marie, Stacey and I will soon be heading back down to Plantation Yacht Harbor in Islamorada and hope to launch ViewFinder on February 15th. After 30-years of teaching high school art, Stacey retires the end of January! We'll be sharing a villa in Key Largo with sailing buddies from...

    Nordic Tug furloughs workforce

I wonder if others have made the mistake I have in reading this thread and thought the news about the Nordic Tug furlough was "new" news. The furlough story was published in 2010, but I believe the company is still alive and building boats. It is also building the hulls and decks for the line...

    Interesting new cruiser

I agree that the new Marlow/Mainship doesn't have the eye appeal of the original design. I've been aboard the new ones (same boat except for the different drive systems) and while there are some very nice interior touches, the cost has risen far beyond what the originals were selling for just...

    Interesting new cruiser

Take a look at the video of the Eco Trawler running at different speeds (youtube.com/watch?v=l4DeQlqrx3Y) and you'll see that a very modest head sea will bury the bow. Also, watch as it heels over as it makes a slow turn. Not sure this hull form works very well.

    Marina Needed Baltimore Annapolis Area

You may want to consider Port Annapolis on Back Creek in Annapolis. Very modern amenities including a pool, snack bar, laundry, etc. It also has a full service yard and supply store, and you're permitted to work on your boat yourself. There's also room to store your trailer. Close to major...

    Major Kenyon Kiss malfunction

As I recall, Dr. Bob said that his friend was injured by a PROPANE stove, not a butane fueled KISS stove.

    Cabinet hinges on 2008 C-Dory 22

My 2009 TomCat probably has the same hinges. They have a cover that does pop off with some force. Try inserting a thin screwdriver at the narrow end, farthest from the actual hinge. FYI, I liked these hinges so much I asked Scott at Triton to send me a supply for a small travel trailer we had...

Lake Champlain to the Saint Lawrence river

Yes, we did this route in our 43-footer as part of our Great Loop adventure in 2002. We loved the area so much, we went back to Lake Champlain with our TomCat in 2011 and just returned from a two-week cruise on the St. Lawrence through The Thousand Islands. The trip up the Richelieu in 2002...
