If your kicker is a carburetor engine than you are problaly starving the engine for fuel trying to run it at that angle. Without knowing the exact design of the carb I would guess that fuel is not getting to the float bowl, or getting from the bowl to the jets. Your main is a fuel injected...

These modern EFI engines will run all day long at trolling speeds with no problem. The onlly real reason I used a kicker motor was to keep hours off my main. And a kicker is easier on gas.

You really dont need any more than the 9.9. It will do what you need of it either as a trolling motor or a get home motor. And it is the lightest of the 3 choices

Sounds exactly like the problem I had 2 years ago with my 115 Yamaha, mine was ethonal related and the problems it caused in the VST. As I am not familiar with Hondas fuel systems I cannot say with any type of certainty, but the symptoms are identical

Tohatsues are good motors. Have not heard of anything really bad about them. Are you going to save much vs honda after you figure in rerigging your boat for a different brand engine?

I have a small section on my boat that is peeling also, just have not got off my butt yet to replace it. I bought the pin striping already. Just have to do it. But I will redo the whole thing instead of trying to scab in an 18 inch section.

You can buy that pin striping at most any auto parts or auto paint store around.

Personaly I like the looks of that 22' cruiser. The 23', not so much.
