News regarding E. Q. Harbor Marine

Good news indeed! C-Dory has seen the light and their best dealer will continue to represent these great boats. Dave

Fuel and water cap spanner (?) wrench

I discovered that the back edge of my knife blade, when closed, opens either water or gas. Since I carry it anyway, the knife is my best tool to open these caps. Dave

    Adjusting trim

I have done two things to figure correct trim. One was to travel next to another C-Dory at cruise speed, and notice when it was properly trimmed where the bow wave appeared, relative to helm window. About even looked right. And then the ultimate test is merely to watch your GPS speed over...

Your opinion on a boat, especially sailers

I think the trimaran looks attractive, right up to the point of thinking about steering from the cockpit versus steering from inside a C Dory. I remember doing that! That means foul weather gear, right? Means no benefit of the heat from the Wallas. Forget it, at least for the Northwest...

    09/28 - 09/30 - Sequim Bay Gathering

The weather in Port Townsend has been early morning fog much of this week, and likely to continue, with mid to late morning clearing. Probably Sequim is similar. I have obligations Fri night and Sat night, and hope to come over by either boat or car on Sat during the day. If it's not too...

New Honda lean burn ect. "07"

I got one of the new 90's this spring and love it. It starts instantly, runs smoother, has more power and not insignificantly, instead of getting the 4mpg of my Honda 75, I am getting 5mpg. I love it. Dave

    Permanent Defroster

I have yet to try it on my boat, but in an electric car I had last winter I found great success using a squeegee on the windshield. They are cheap in the auto department at WalMart. I liked it so well I used one in my car that actually did have a defogger, because it was way quicker. Dave

    A quick hello

I just recently replaced my 2003 Honda 75 with a new model Honda 90. I had always wished my 75 had fuel injection, and got it on the new one. The new one is way smoother, starts extremely well (unlike the old one on cold days), and is very peppy. I understand I will have better fuel mileage...

    05/04 - 05/05 - Lopez Opening Day 2007

Are you sure it was a table and not four wooden sharks?

    05/04 - 05/05 - Lopez Opening Day 2007

Thanks! I should explain what I have discovered. Up in the bow, where the hole was drilled for a drain of the anchorline locker, there was a space between the hull and the pan that was fibreglassed in as the bottom of the locker. When I ran the vaccuum, I could hear air drawing in that hole...

    05/04 - 05/05 - Lopez Opening Day 2007

Thanks, too, from me for everyone's efforts at Lopez. It was a pleasant weekend, and a good chance to meet new folks. Nice to have Rich and Bret there, as friends and as the C-Dory experts. Everyone was polite except possibly a woman with the other group that was there with their pig roast...

    05/04 - 05/05 - Lopez Opening Day 2007

I'm glad to say I will finally arrive with a name on my boat. We are now "Plan C". We're ready for a ritual wetting... Dave

    bar crossing photos

I had said last weekend at Poulsbo that there is a shortage of pictures of C Dorys in rough water. Great pics, Factory. On my way to Poulsbo, Deb Colvin, new C Dory owner and professional photographer, took some pictures of my boat headed south in Oak Bay. Here is one: LINK Dave Link...

    03/24 - 03/25 - Poulsbo, WA

There's not much I can add, except to say that it was a delightful weekend. Janet did beautifully as our hostess. I went to register Sat morning, and they said, "It's all taken care of" (no filling out form or anything, by me), and everything else was just as smooth, except the water on Fri...

    07/22 - 08/05 - The Gulf Island Cruise

This is a response to Mike from earlier post. I've been back and forth several times to Victoria, with a dog. Canada of course is totally trusting, just wanting a date that the dog was vacinated for rabies. By telephone. Returning to the US has been inconsistent. Mostly Customs has had no...

First post - potential new owner

Matt For seaworthiness on your coast, you should talk with Fred Heap, who goes back and forth to Nantucket in a 22 Angler, for a number of years. I'd put faith in whatever he says. Unfortunately I don't have his email address, but someone here will. Dave

    Getting stuck with a c-dory

I find in Puget Sound, it is hard to find water shallow enough to get stuck. However I have had one occasion. I was in the harbor at Nordland, on Marrowstone Island, and wanted coffee at the store. I tied to the dock at eight in the morning and found they didn't open until nine. The tide was...

    03/24 - 03/25 - Poulsbo, WA

My check goes out tomorrow. I have meant to make a trip to Poulsbo to Marina Market. I bought things for my boat from them when I lived 3000 miles away! They sell stuff out of the West Marine catalog for cost plus 10%, and have a market of Norwegian foods. And are nice folks to deal with. I...
