    Older Tomcats

Great boat. Things to watch for: The trailers are terrible - don't fit the boat very well and will gouge your boat on launch and retrieve. I got an extendahitch to work around that problem. In northern climates, the long sloping windshields tend to fog up in a big way. A shower squeegee helps...

    arima or c dory

Our previous boat is an Arima 17SC (Bob). An excellent boat for fishing and day trips. Not so good for overnight expeditions. We still have it, and it gets used a couple of times a year for some serious fishing expeditions. We have had 4 adults and 700 lbs of fish in it a couple of times...

All wraped up and no where to go.

We bought our boat in spring 2004 from the Alaska C-Dory dealer. It arrived late, and we actually took possession of it in late July. He did not carry the electronics that I wanted, so I took it to the Glacier Craft shop to buy and have them do the installation (Furuno). We parked it in their...

    Water and fuel don't Mix

We have more than 400 hours on our engines, and not a bit of water has shown up in the fuel filters. And we have been is some fairly tough water late last season and early this one. So far so good. I looked at our vent hoses when I was getting the boat ready this spring. Each has a loop...

    Opinion on Simpson/Lawence Sprint 600

Mike: I recently installed the Maxwell 500 with 3 strand nylon rope. It works fine.

    Heater/stive fuel vent?

I noticed that with mine too. I have a fair sized hole for wiring in the rear bulkhead under the galley leading under the gunnel. I poke the existing vent hose out this hole amongst all the wires - no problems, no odors.

    Help, Dead Windlass

I recently installed a windlass. The big breaker switch between the battery and the winch motor is the most likely candidate. There is probably a small fuse between your windlass control and the solenoid box, mine is 3 amp. If that fuse is blown, your controls will not work. Just follow the...

    fuel tank burps

Neat looking device, but my problem was not that fuel came out the vent, but that nothing came out the vent - no air, no vapors, no nothing. So fuel burped out of the fill opening. Sometimes 10 to 12 inches straight up from the fill opening. But not any more. I forgot to mention, each of...

    fuel tank burps

I have noticed several CDs fueling very slowly and holding lots of sorbents at the ready. Since day one, we have had to fill the starboard fuel tank as slow as humanly possible to avoid fuel burping back out. Serious hand cramps from holding the nozzle on ridiculously slow for 40 or 50...

    Anchor Locker Drain

It works!!! Went through some very bumpy water for several hours, and not a drop in the storage space.
  13. Scupper fix - 3" PVC discharge hose hose-clamped onto the scupper drain. I saw a smaller version of this on a rigid-hull inflatable. No water at all came back onto the deck, and everything on deck drained out.

    C-Dory Factory Survey

They forgot the 24 TomCat also (But I filled out the survey anyway). Poor quality control. Edit to add: I see several others also noticed the snub. I like my 24. The boat is great, maybe a little ugly, but great anyway.

    Anchor Locker Drain

Our 2004 TomCat showed up without a drain hole. I noticed this and pointed it out to the dealer. The dealer drilled a hole at a low point in the anchor locker, and installed a clam shell on the exterior of the boat. They did not seal the hole, and they managed to drill too far aft and tapped...
