    Downriggers on a 25

I made some rigger mounts for the Barrel O Monkeys - see the photo albums. Maybe some variation of this will work for your 25.

    Tow Vehicle

I like those older truck. We tow with an 1985 F-250 pre-powerstroke diesel. Cost $4000 4 years ago, 165000 miles, a little rusty, but pulls like a mule. Only put 3 to 4 thousand miles a year on it - I figure it will launch the boat for about 20 more years.

    cruising speed query

Where did you find Honda 100's and how did you get them to turn so slow? My TC with Honda 90s maxes out at 28 to 30 knots, 5800 rpm. That is 32 to 35 mph for you landlubbers.

    Trolling...for Halibut?!

I caught a 70 lb halibut while trolling for salmon off Anchor Point, Alaska a couple of years ago. Another guy in the boat hooked a king, so the rest of us were reeling in to get out of his way. My cut herring rig was about 20 behind the boat, about 3 feet below the surface, and moving fast...

    comprop

I tried a comprop on my old 17' Arima / Honda 90. Light load, 5500 rpm the boat topped out at 30 mph. Then I tried a stainless (used Honda) 3 blade - light load, 5500 rpm, the boat reached 35 mph. I have not yet figured out how the same rpm could result in such a speed difference, unless the...

    07/02 - 07/03, Naked Island, Alaska

Not certain if we can both get away from work, but if so you just might see Barrel o Monkeys out there. We traveled around Naked several times last June in our 17' Arima (Bob) - whales were all over the south end, and we caught a few halibut.

    Glacier Bay vs Tomcat 24/25

CADiver; That 800 pounds on the TomCat 24 is the max recommended weight for motors and batteries. It has little to do with passenger capacity, more to do with messing up the trim of the boat by hanging lots of weight off the transom. I have seen a TC24 with a pair of Yamaha 115s and a monster...
