Water leaking out of a couple of small holes in the cockpit.

I'm liking the idea of cutting a large opening in the top of each side and making a stowage compartment out of it. I would never rest easy as long as they were enclosed and I couldn't at least inspect them some way. This would eliminate the problem all together and give me some extra stowage...

Water leaking out of a couple of small holes in the cockpit.

What do you think of cutting an inspection hole into either compartment On the inner surface and capping them with some sort of water tight inspection plate? Someone suggested it earlier.

Water leaking out of a couple of small holes in the cockpit.

Thanks for all the good info. I have to believe that the water source is the crack on the top of the seat where it joins the transom. Unless the boat had been submerged for a while there is no other way that I can see that both of the hollow chambers under the seat could have filled to the top...

Water leaking out of a couple of small holes in the cockpit.

After having moved my 1986, 16' Angler into the garage I thought I noticed a slight puddle of water in back of the cockpit. I wiped it up and went about my work. Today I found a bit more water in the same place so I took my drill and with a small drill bit opened up the old screw holes where...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Some times it's the little things. I took the top off of my lighted compass to see why it didn't work. Turned out to be a loose wire. Same with the bilge pump. I have found that 50% of being able to fix something is having the nerve to open it up for a look.

    Sweet 16

Too late for pictures. I already took it off with the razor blade. Guess I'll leave it off. I don't like a lot of clutter. I have the original, large C-dory decals coming from Trident. Once I get it all together I'll take some photos. This is going to be a poor boy's boat. The later...

    Sweet 16

It's me again. Boy am I having fun! I'm removing the old decals and should have some new C-Dory decals from Scott at Triton Marine soon. Thanks Scott! My question is, was there an original decal on this boat that said "Sweet 16"? I found something that said "Sweet 16" on both sides under...

    Epoxy paint

By "sections" I mean I'm doing it one complete area at a time. The top of the boat is it's own piece, sort of like the hood on a car. That's the only major section I'm doing. The other areas I'll be doing are the textured tread areas around the boat on what I guess you could call the deck...

    Epoxy paint

Thanks for the environmental warnings. I tend to overlook that stuff because I don't work with hazardous materials that often.

    Epoxy paint

I assumed it was an epoxy paint because there was a seperate container of hardener that came with it. It is labeled "brushing hardener". The paint says it is brushable, two part polyurethane. Directions say it can be applied to clean, lightly sanded fiberglass. It did set up nicely.

    Epoxy paint

Jeez I go a lot of questions all of a sudden. I started painting on the boat yesterday. I'm doing it piece meal and can only get to a section at a time. I began by pouring half of my quart of epoxy paint into a mixing container. I added the hardener and went to work. I soon realized that I...

    Connecting kicker to main outboard.

Thanks guys. The EZ Steer looks like a good option but my budget can't handle it so I'm going to try using the main motor as a rudder first. I like simple fixes. I also noticed that there is a ball joint on the back side and just below the cowling on the main motor. Looks factory. I'm...

    Got her in the garage.

Moved Pee Wee into the garage last week end and had a whole inch and a half to spare. This is a 16 foot angler. Right now she's getting her hat painted. I had given up on doing any more work until Spring because I thought I didn't have the room but some creative rearanging of my two BMW...

    Connecting kicker to main outboard.

Still working away on my little 16' Angler. One of my projects is to get the kicker tied in to the main outboard so that it can be steered from the helm. I thought I had it with a piece from Cabelas that joins them with a threaded, stainless bar at the front. They call it an Auxiliary Motor...

    Simple wiring project?

Thanks for all the great information. I think I have a clear picture of what I need to do now. The battery switch certainly seems like a good idea. The boat is starting to come together. I found some paint for the traction areas on the deck and cabin floor that actually matches the original...

    Simple wiring project?

Electrical isn't one of my better skills. How about if I just put a thirty amp fuse where the main power comes off of the battery? I am impressed with what others have done with 16 feet but this isn't going to be my home. I just want some lights, radio and a fish finder. I only have one...

    Simple wiring project?

I think what I will do is put in a positive bus as well as a negative bus and then run my fish finder and radio to it since they have their own on and off switches and then run a hot lead off of it over to the new bank of switches that will be used for lights and such. I will tie it directly to...

    Simple wiring project?

This is an attempt at posting a link to a photo. This photo shows the back side. The round electrical connector is just as it came from the package. It is directly over the whole for one of the mounting screws, which means that the screw or bolt in that position would be hot...
