Heading up, until I run into something hard; then I switch it to north up to figure out where the heck I am.

    The last duck...

We are all excited for you Jim! My first boating experience was racing a 72 foot sailboat Dance II out of Chicago on Lake Michigan. Did three Chi-Mackinac races. Then took a job as a deckhand on a 93-foot sailboat Odyssey. Took it from Chicago and lakes through the St. Lawrence and down the...

Day trips on the Chesapeake from Cutter Marine

I read the whole series with my older daughter as well. She loved it, and so did I.

Day trips on the Chesapeake from Cutter Marine

It's probably more than a day trip, but I think you would love the Wye River over on the Eastern Shore. BTW, Dawn Treader is a great name too -- who gets to play Reepicheep?

    Yet another motorcycle thread

First "bike" I rode was a Vespa 90 that I rode all over when I was a kid; I got arrested in town with a buddy when I was 14. I was in big trouble with the folks. When I was 17 I got a Suzuki GT550 (two stroke) and hid it for awhile at a friend's house. Later, after college, a Suzuki GS1100...

    Yet another motorcycle thread

Matt and Iva, your sentiments strike me as sincere and they are much appreciated. Glad you are part of the pack! Dusty, I didn't know you were a BMW guy. I had three Suzukis and then got a BMW K1200RS and thought, "Oh - so THAT'S what they're talking about!" I loved my three Suzukis, but...

    Hey RedFox + CC!

Yep. The fact is, I can't keep up with all of the C-Dory news that goes on here (what with that pesky job and all). I hope there aren't any hard feelings, but I happen to agree with Bill and Mike on this.

    beaching a c dory 22

Tom, just like Bluecrab said. We do it all the time. Just remember to turn the engine off before you raise the motor! I usually put the bow anchor out, and check the tide tables if we're going to leave the boat for any length of time. Best regards,

The Decision to Buy: how long did it take?

Nick: Outboard Boaters Handbook is the book that captured my imagination and turned me around from "boat show-itis" to really thinking about how I could use a boat to bring myself and my family into contact with the outdoors in a different way. That book is on the small bookshelf near my bed...

The Decision to Buy: how long did it take?

This is a great thread! For us, it was about 3 years. In 1998 when we returned from overseas, we needed a vehicle. My wife and I were at a car dealer getting a price on a truck. I was explaining that I wanted the heavy duty tow package, manual transmission, and four wheel drive with a low...

My All Time Favorite C-Dory photo

Yes - great thread! These are darn fine looking boats, and their owners sure like to take them to pretty places. Roger, glad you like that shot of Otter -- El and Bill took it! Best,

    Newbie Thank You: C-Brat Hospitality

Great note Ed - thanks for taking the time to lay it out for us. That is definitely the C-Dory way (but didn't anyone offer you beer???) Best regards,

    Books

Just read a new book called Knowing the Enemy by Mary Habeck. Scholarly but very readable work on the Quranic interpretations that underpin the extreme Jihadist point of view. Not jingoistic or alarmist in style, but at the end of 179 pages one can't but come away with the realization that...

    New TomCat 25

Yesterday the family and I took the Otter up to Cutter Marine for to drop off for annual service. We'd also made an appointment with Gary to go for a ride on the new TomCat 255. This is the boat they had at the Balitmore boat show. It was sold then to someone (congratulations, whoever you...

C-Dog website discussing it's future as Ken McC steps aside

Just read through the discussion on the C-Dogs site. Kudos for Ken for running that site well. If someone takes over C-Dogs and keeps it going, great. If not, a warm welcome to all C-Dory owners, lookers, and lurkers here on C-Brats! As a Virginian far, far away from Puget Sound, I could not...
