    EZ Loader trailer for CD22

Not surprising to me that the lights are out -- I think I replaced them three times (on a LoadRite trailer) before I gave up and made a light bar out of PVC pipe and a light kit. I just attach it to the stern of the boat when I've traveling and take it off and throw it in the van when I launch.

    Veterans Day, 2005

Great thread. In my own family: Dad -- USMC, WWII, stationed at GITMO Mom -- WAVEs, WWII Uncle Frank, USMC, WWII and Korea, five battle landings in the Pacific, including Guadalcanal. Died two years ago. One of the calmest, kindest individuals I've ever known. Uncle Bill, USMC, Vietnam...

    Cold Weather Boating

I love winter boating. Here in VA, "winter" ain't nothing compared to RedFox country, but there's nobody out on the water, and that's what makes it so nice. I suppose that's what makes it a little riskier too. If you just think about a worst case scenario before you go out, you'll do the...

    Which Boat? The Envelope Please!

It is testament to TyBoo's self-restraint that he did not post a picture of the other item for a side-by-side comparison. (But I bet he thought about it!) Cheers,

    motorcycles

Ken, you may be in for a rude awakening on the price. Just found this on the Big Cee Engineering site ( www.bigcee.com ) under KLR650 Frequently Asked Questions: What's this diesel KLR I've heard about? Hayes Diversified Research and F1 Engineering of Hesperia, CA, converts KLR650 engines to...

    motorcycles

Great topic Ken! The KLR650 has a maniacal following similar to the C-Dory. Google it and you'll find a few discussion groups. I've never had the pleasure of riding one, but it sounds like the appeal is similar to what we love about our boats: sturdy, low-key, utilitarian, no-frills bikes...

    "JURY DUTY" SCAM

That's a good one Rick - thanks for passing it on. When I see these scams, I often think if only these guys would put the effort and ingenuity they possess into honest labor, they'd probably do just fine. Sheesh. Do I recall that you were moving to Alabama and were looking for folks with...

    Trailer Boats Mag Letters

Great letter Pat! I did an article about the C-Dory for Chesapeake Bay Magazine's "Me and My Boat" section -- and they even sent me a check for it! -- but I have yet to see it published. Hope it comes through one of these days and I can post it here on the site of all sites! Regards,

    Which Boat? The Envelope Please!

Holy cow! I don't check in on the site for a couple days and look what I miss! The Otter has been lonely and bored for the last few weeks. She tells me she'd better get her bottom wet tomorrow or else. Hope all is well out there in C-Brat land. I sure do appreciate (again) the work and...

    Power Trailer Dollies

I have a front receiver hitch on my van as well and love it. Makes launching and retrieving at our cramped marina a breeze.

Best jury rig story that got you home

I'd buy a round just for the story! Warning - this is a little off topic, but the C-Brats site had its orgins in of off-topic musings of Tyboo and RedFox, so I think I'm on solid ground here! It is nice to be thanked for a good deed (I recently got a warm note from a woman who had an accident...

    25 C-Dory???

I looked at these when I was shopping. Good, solid boat, but heavier than a C-Dory, deeper vee (between 10 and 15 degree deadrise, depending on model), higher horsepower requirements. Made in Bailey, NC. Also looked at Parker, a similar design from Beaufort, NC.

Two questions by a new owner: 1. handling 2. bilging?

Reminds me of the little Dutch boy who saved the town by sticking his finger in the hole in the dyke. Maybe he wasn't such a hero - maybe his finger was just stuck! Had a similar experience with a piece of driftwood pulling the plug loose my first season on the Otter. Since then, the plug...

    New TomCat 25

Just spoke to Joe Rogers at Cutter Marine in Maryland. They've worked up a preliminary price package of $102,000 (Honda 135s) to $104,000 (Honda 150s) that includes: Wallas stove/heater divers swim step/ladder windlass fridge shore power washdown pump For trailer, they had LoadRite build them...

    New TomCat 25

Do you use a weight distributing hitch? Don't ask me to explain the physics, but it uses trunnion bars under tension to distribute the towed load away from your vehicle's rear axle to the trailer axle and the tow vehicle's front axle. With a normal hitch, my van is rated for 5,000 lbs; with a...
