    Moving to Electrics...

I think it's a regional thing. I rarely fish on bottom for kings down here in Oregon. If I do it's in 35 feet of water or less and then I don't need downriggers. The cannons sound nice though. I do know that the scotty Reps have a stronger presence where I'm at plus their warranty is hard to beat.

    Perfect cup o' Joe

I stumbled upon this little device. It uses ESE espresso pods to brew esspresso. In short, you hand pump the device to 18 bars and pour hot water in. It's small and lightweight. It might just fit the bill. http://www.handpresso.fr/ There's a small review here...

Anyone purchase a new tow rig lately?

The price you pay can depend on the delearship. Somtimes delearships will shift factory incentives to other vehicles that are not moving in order to get them off their lot. It could be that the dealer in Texas is doing that to the pickups. Anyway, if buying from a dealer I highly recommend...

    Radar arch placement and height

I went with the low arch because I had no plans for a dingy. It functions as a radar arch as well as a fishing rod holder. I would not get a tall arch if you wanted rocket launchers on it since reaching the rods would be difficult.

    Slow Day at Merwin

I fished merwin a couple years ago. Pretty place but we couldn't find the fish. No one else did either. I think it was too cold if I remember correctly. Thanks for the report.

    set up for fishing?

They are a factory option. Check with a local dealer to see if it's something they can order for you. I do like the bar there for it's many uses.

    set up for fishing?

I bought the canyon bag online. I don't remember the exact retialer but they sale for about $125. I put snaps in the handles and also added a snap to the transome wall to snap it to. The bag is 20" x 60" model # CANTKC1 found here http://www.alltackle.com/canyon_fish_bags.htm The cup...

    set up for fishing?

In this picture you can see the downrigger plate on the starboard side just forward of the fuel cap. Also, on the transome bar I have 3 scotty rod holder mounts and two more on the side of the gunnels.

Ready to Buy - New vs. Used?

I will say that it is quite easy to underestimate the cost of outfitting a boat. We always think of the big things but the price of small marine do-dads really does add up. Just a thought.

    Raymarine C-80

I'm a little confused as to the necessity of another screen? I have a c-80 and use it for trolling all the time. You might try setting the fish alarm and set the appropriate depth range. That way you don't have to stare at a screen, you only need to glance at it when it beeps. Just a thought.

    Nikon D60 owners?

I do not have any filters for my lens yet. I figure a guy should probably at least have a UV filter to protect the lens. Anyone routinely use a polarized lens? Does brand matter?

    Nikon D60 owners?

Snal, that's great. I just go my camera the other day and am really impressed with the quality of the pictures that come out of it. I have a lot to learn though but that's part of the fun.

    Fuel Primer Bulb vacuum compressed

Well, I'm no expert but I think your assessment is accurate. Not sure how a vent would get plugged so I would suspect the fuel pickup is somehow clogged???

Hard Times Hit Lake Erie Boating

It's clear that the nation has cut waaay back on it's fuel use. Not just a token amount. I read an article that claimed americans drove 1.5 billion miles LESS in April 08 compared to April 07  . I wonder what the refineries are doing with all the extra fuel these days? And yes, even...

    Issue with Carbon Monoxide sensor

I don't have one on the boat be used to have one in our house that seemed to want to go off at night. It must of been faulty. I don't understand why your's would go off at high speed. I've heard that fire alarms and such can get buggy from spider webs inside ect. Might try and clean it??

Pulled the boat for the 20 hour service

On my honda's the drain plug for the lower unit is magnetic. If you had metal in your oil, that plug should of had a lot of "metal sludge" on it. I didn't do my 20 hour service (had it professionally done) but have done it after each season of use and it's alway's looked like new. Then again, I...

    Survey, yes or no?

I would think the decision to have a survey or not could safely be based on your initial visual inspection plus a little history about the boat. If it's one that's been moored in the water for extended periods of time that, in my mind would sway me toward the survey. Also, what the condition of...
