Is the 15 the pitch? What diameter prop's are these?

    Wallas on the fritz

Jay, Just a thought, was there anything blocking the exhaust port on the outside of the boat? Not sure what happens when you do that but I imagine it would over heat the wallas. Just something to check.

    Four Blade Results

Wow, this is interesting to me. If I'm reading this right the 3 blade is way more effecient than the 4 blade? I assume you didn't have any fuel flow numbers but if the boat will do 4 more knots at the same RPM's it would be safe to say that you would burn less fuel with the 3 blade setup. I'm...

    hard to start 8hp honda

Ten to twenty pulls is too much. Squeeze the bulb until you can't squeeze any more before you try to start it. Otherwise, I'm at a loss.

    Marine Cell Phone Antenna

Yep. The results are mixed. I don't think the 8' antenna by itself does much of anything. THe amplifier will definately amplify any signal that your phone can already pick up but I don't think I was actually able to extend my range at all. I still need test it again because on my way out to...

Dory Newbie seeks advice. Is a 16' too small?

Opps. Forgot C-dory made a 19 footer when I recommended the Arima. Definately check out the 19.

Dory Newbie seeks advice. Is a 16' too small?

If the 22' is not in your budget I would highly recomend a 17' arima. There would be plenty of room for 3. The only downside is no hardtop. You can get a canvas top though.

Clicking problem with new electrics on shorepower

If the starting battery is isolated from the house what is the switch for? I assume you don't have a Voltage sensitive relay hooked up since that would be for charging between both battery banks but that's the only thing I can think of is a VSR constantly opening and closing the charging...

    22' Cruiser vs 23' Venture

Best Day, I'll try and get mine on a scale next time I pass one. It's been awhile and it's entirely possible that the boat weighs more now. Problem is, I'm usually headed out to fish and the last thing I want to do is stop. Much easier to do on the way home.

    Tip of the iceberg

I highly recommend buying a can of Corrosion X and use it liberaly. I sprayed each nut on my trailer. I also spray the battery terminals, bus bars, almost everything really. It can even be used on circuit boards ect. This stuff really cuts down on corrosion. I have had zero change in the...

    22' Cruiser vs 23' Venture

Bill, I just looked at the c-dory website. Although the CC and the Venture are probably not identical they are similar. C-dory lists the boat (no motor) weight of the 23' venture at 3020 lbs and the 22' cruiser at 1925 lbs. Now I know these numbers can't be taken litteraly and are estimates...

    22' Cruiser vs 23' Venture

Bill, My trailer is galvanized and weighs 1090 lbs according to their website. I carry 50 gallons of fuel and sometimes take an extra 12 gallons. I keep my 20 gallon water tank full. I have the wood interior. I do have the drop in floor boards as well. I have 3 optimax batteries. I have no...

    22' Cruiser vs 23' Venture

Nope, not unsafe at all. I just think an under sized tow rig might not last as long as one that's sized appropriate to the load. My only point is that with out a doubt the Venture 23 puts a tow vehicle that's rated for 5k closer to it's limit than a similarly rigged 22 cruiser.

    22' Cruiser vs 23' Venture

I have a Cruiser22 on a double axle king marine trailer. I have a single 90 Honda and an 8hp Classic. I have weighed it several times on the highway scales. Fully loaded for an overnight stay and offshore fishing (ie, downriggers, weights, poles, full fuel, lots of Ice ect. Mine came in at 4300...

The accent strip is part of the gelcoat. Not sure how you can fix a worn area. I've had several coast gaurd inspections and they have never asked to see the batteries.

    Trim Tabs

They are necessary in my book. You will improve fuel economy and have a smoother ride. I think the older model boats were lighter in the transome and trim tabs might not of been as necessary. Now a days, we put bigger fuel tanks, bigger motors back there.

    DIESEL GETTING UGLY

I blame oil speculators. Seems they can "justify" an increase for just about any little thing. Case in point, a few weeks ago when two small boats came near a well protected oil tanker, there was a price increase due to "instability" in the region (has that are ever been stable?). I mean, if...

    Surge brake frustrations backing uphill

Boy, I really need to proof read before I hit submit. Anyway, if you are already on an incline and the surge brake is somewhat activated then I don't think putting the truck in reverse will release the brake pressure. I have had someone stand between the boat and truck while I quickly released...

    Surge brake frustrations backing uphill

I park also have an inclined driveway that has a curve too it. My street however is pretty flat so I usually stop in the street and put a pin in place that prevents the surge brake from activating. It won't activate at all until I pull the pin out (which you can't do until there's forward...

    Bilge Pump - Check valve?

I was wondering if the bilge pump hose should have a check valve in it? I was 30 miles offshore fishing halibut this weekend and noticed water accumulating in the bilge area faster than I thought it should. The pump would need to cycle every couple minutes. Needless to say there was a few...
