I'm no radar expert but on thing I've heard is that going bigger or more wattage won't necessarily let you see farther unless you can get the radome up higher. On our boats it may not make any difference.

Did it ever come back? Our problem isn't from over fishing but from what I understand the water in the sacremento river is being diverted for other uses so even if more fish return to the river the water conditions are less than ideal (too warm) so it may not matter anyways. :amgry

I dont' think the high top makes a difference in the overall height because the radar arch is mounted at the same location as the "low" top versions and that height is no different.

I don't think I would expect to pay 20% under msrp. At least not on the west coast. I understand the east coast might has a whole different boating market though. Also there's a recent thread on this very topic with some very helpful responses.

Could it be the Gas? If your state is anything like Oregon, the winter fuel gets blended with ethonal. I hear that there is less energy from a gallon of gas that's blended with ethonal. Maybe your state does this too and you are noticing a difference? Just a thought.
