    Neah Bay Whales

It took us 1 hour one way at 16Knots when the water was smooth. In rougher water we could only do 8 knots and it took 2 hours. We also saw whales out near Tatoosh island, but not as many. Tatoosh is only a half hour from the harbor. Doug & Susan

    Fuel Cap Replacement

Thanks Sunbeam, Thanks Edwin. I think I will take advice from both of you. I am going to order a complete seadog filller cap assembly. If I am lucky the cap will screw rright in to the existing housing. If not I will install the entire assembly. Time is of the essence here, so this will allow us...

    Neah Bay Whales

We went fishing at Neah Bay last Monday through Wednesday. Monday we went to Swift sure Bank. This was our first trip on the open Ocean and it was very memorable. The first thing we saw when we reached Swiftsure was the biggest bait ball we had ever seen boiling on the surface for as far as you...

    Fuel Cap Replacement

I sent one of our fuel caps over board at the fuel dock last weekend. The screw came loose that holds it to the chain and that was the end of it. I robbed the cap off the water fill and made a make shift cap for the water. I can not find the correct size replacement cap. I ordered what I thought...

    Safety flares in Canada

Thanks for all this input. It didn't make since to us that these would not be allowed. We will take them with us and not worry about it. sometimes you can look all over the internet and not find a good answer. The go to place after that is the C-brats. We always get good answers here. Thanks again

    Safety flares in Canada

Last summer we had a volunteer safety inspection by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. We were up to date on all Items and passed the inspection. The guy doing the inspection while looking at our flares told me that the pistol launcher for our parachute flares would be considered a weapon by the...

    downrigger setup

Scotty does make their own braided line and it is approved on their downriggers, but to clarify, "Monofilament" is not recommended and will void your Scotty warranty. I have never measured the voltage on our boat, but I must assume it is OK, as we hook lots of fish. I have a spool of braided...

    downrigger setup

We also use Scotty downriggers. Ours are the 1101 with a fixed 30" boom mounted in front of the lazaret. Never have a problem with the steel wire interfering with the kicker motor. I don't know about Cannon, but Scotty does not recommend monofilament because it will stretch and contract on the...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I built a Ram mount for our ipad that will allow easy viewing of the Navionics program we recently purchased for a redundant chart plotter as well as internet and email and such. It folds up out of the way when not in use and the ipad just slides right out if we want to use it somewhere else...
  10. Dash organizers fit like a glove and require no fasteners or holes in the boat. These allow for fastening things like ipad mounts and radios and such. We can pile a lot more stuff on to the dash/helm and things don't fall off. Our ipad slides right out of the holder when we want to use it somewhere else.

    LEGLESS DINETTE TABLE

I made a modification to the table on our boat that was pretty simple and gets the table leg out of the way. First I made a partition for storage next to the side of the hull under the table. Then made a new mount for the table leg against the partition that allows the leg to be cantilevered at...
  15. Table leg fits in to the mount nicely and has never fallen out, and we have been in some pretty sloppy water with it.

  16. the leg is still original length and can be used in the original position, but we never do because we like the leg room. table still makes in to a bed easily.

    Fuel Stabilizer

I too am a believer in the blue stabil. (Why would anybody put water in a fuel stabilizer?) I have ran it in all my motorcycles, chain saws, lawnmowers, weed eaters and outboards both two and four stroke for years. I do try to run non ethanol when I can, but use the stabil regardless. When...

    1989 40 hp JOHNSON problem

I have experienced this exact scenario on my 30 HP Evinrude (same as Johnson). It is a stuck solenoid/bendix and is caused by corrosion. Sprayed it down with wd40 and exercised it. Have had many trouble free hours of use from the motor since doing this. Hope this helps.

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

Thanks again Ron and Martin and Island Explorer for this info. We are really looking forward to this trip. It should be quite an adventure. Also looking forward to meeting you at Powell River. Probably will come up with more questions later. Doug & Susan
