    boat values

I'll take a stab at answering the original question since I have my boat listed for sale on the C-Brats site. First, the price I have set might seem high but having bought and sold many boats over the years, it's been my experience that most buyers expect to get a break on the "advertised"...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Economy explained in less than 3 minutes

I'm trying to stay out of this but I'm not sure your point in this reply. Like the other poster, I have a pension (2) and they were part of my compensation to retain me at the companies that offered them. I have social security and that was after I paid into it the maximum every year for the...

Economy explained in less than 3 minutes

Is there no group or website you can go to these days that doesn't have Tea Party idiots or Move On.Org idiots spouting the usual slanted and biased opinions? Both sides have some good ideas and a lot of bad ones. Both sides better figure out how to work together pretty soon or just watch...

    Insurance for CD

State Farm for us for both boats. We get discounts because of Safe Boating Class completion and our overall insurance is low because we insure everything (home, auto, golf cart, boat, life) with them. Always been great to deal with and I find their premiums reasonable.

    Lewmar V700 windlass installation

Joe, thanks for the input. So today my neighbor who happens to understand electricity (I'm a novice here) came over with his voltmeter and we started at the battery compartment. The way my windlass is wired is that a positive wire runs from the battery to a box that has a maxifuse in it...

    Lewmar V700 windlass installation

Interesting to read this thread. I have a Lewmar Pro Sport horizontal windlass that's a year old. After some issues with the anchor/anchor roller combination that I took care of (see earlier posts), the windlass has worked fine. That is until last week. I was letting the anchor out and after...

    Anchor Roller

First, thanks to those of you who replied with advice. I did finally solve my problem by changing the anchor and removing an upper wheel on the anchor roller. The roller on my boat is a Windline BRM4 which is supposed to be designed for a Bruce Anchor. I contacted Windline and spoke with an...

    The Best Marine Head

I also had the Sealand M28 marine toilet in my CD25. I did not have a Y valve with overboard discharge as that would be illegal in inland lakes and rivers. So a pump out is the only way to dump the tank and not all lakes have pump out stations. The lake we keep our boat on does but frankly...

    The Best Marine Head

I had an airhead composting toilet installed over the winter and I'm very happy with it. Based on our usage I don't expect to remove the solids until next fall when I lay the boat up. It's a clean simple design. The guy who sells/invented them actually takes calls and answers questions...

    Anchor Roller

Thanks for the responses! I looked at the anchor roller (it's a Windline) and matched it up on the manufacturer's website to see what it showed. The Windline website says it's designed for a Bruce anchor. The ones they have for Danforth anchors look like the one Marc shows from Lewmar...

    Anchor Roller

Last year I installed a windlass on my CD25 and it works great except for one thing. When I try to launch the anchor, it seems to stick to the lower anchor roller and won't drop. I have to go out on the bow and pull it free. I think I might have to replace the roller but before I go that...

    Raymarine sucks!

I have had lots of Raymarine stuff over the years on several boats and always liked it, never had a problem, and have a Raymarine chart-plotter/fish finder/radar unit now on the GetAweigh and they work flawlessly. I've also had Furuno and can say the same thing about that gear. I have a backup...

    Raymarine frustration

I've had Raymarine, Garmin, and Furuno electronics on my boats. My preference has been Raymarine. I've always found the units easy to operate/learn and bullet proof in performance and reliability. My Furuno components were also very reliable but I didn't like the user interface as well as...

    Fishing Lake Erie

We used to keep boats in East Harbor as well and I agree with all of Nick's recommendations. You can launch from a ramp at East Harbor State Park. http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/parks/ ... fault.aspx Haven't been there in a few years so I wasn't aware of the Sandusky gang problem, but...

Law Firm Finds Success Targeting Those Who Post Copyrighted

At the risk of offending someone, I'll apologize now and say I'm sorry if I do. That said, thanks Jim for sharing your thoughts. It made me think and I agree with you. I hadn't given consideration to the whole intellectual property aspects of this. It seems the answer to how this should...

An Inquiry into cbrat attitudes towards fuel prices...

I have to say I don't worry too much about the price of fuel. Not because I don't care, but because I can't control it. Let's face it, owning a boat whether a Nordhaven or a C-Dory is still a choice for most of us, not a requirement. I'm retiring March 1st (HOORAY) so being able to use my...
