    Centering boat on trailer

My boat sits between the fenders of my trailer. It cans sometimes be sitting on one or the other fender when being pulled out. It is simple to just back the trailer back into the water and then give the boat a shove from the dock in the right direction for it to sit properly.

    CA Boating changing forever?

It is a ploy by boat manufacturers and boatyards to increase boat sales. You will simply need to have a boat stored at each lake you might want to boat/fish at. That way your "...Friday evening decision to go boating Saturday morning..." is still possible.

    Lithium Conversion

Something like 98% of the lithium batteries sold are manufactured in China. The difference between a US manufactured battery and a Chinese battery may be in the assembly of the component parts and the case. I think you'd have a hard case saying that all US batteries are better than all Chinese...

    Lithium Conversion

Depends on whether you have a "smart" alternator or not. A dumb alternator is easy to detect from the bus voltage. A smart alternator has variable output depending on the load (this is to increase fuel economy). With a smart alternator, you have to "tell" the charger that it the engine is on.

    Lithium Conversion

Item #12 is an input to the charger (from the vehicle ACC bus) to tell it that the vehicle is on. The diagram is from the Renogy website.

    Lithium Conversion

If you have a DC-DC charger with MPPT you can charge the battery with DC, solar, or a combination (depending on the charger, some are one or the other). I would set this up so that the engine alternator charges the AGM. The DC-DC/MPPT charges the Li batt. Some DC-DC/MPPT chargers will also...

Roof rack for a Yakima Cargo Carrier

You can make it yourself out of PVC pipe and electrical conduit. Use PVC that allows the conduit to fit inside for strength. Both are pretty easy to cut and join. You can probably find examples if you search this site.

    kayak rack

Yes, the CD22 cabin top is plenty strong enough for a 35# kayak.

    Webasto Heater Installation

You should consider that the combustion air inlet is about 1/4 the diameter of the ventilation air inlet. Assuming that the air velocities are the same, the combustion air is a fraction of the total air flow. I'm not sure that using an external source for the combustion air will make that much...

    Surge Brakes Locked Up

I've had the solenoid for the backup device fail on my MagicTilt trailer. It was easier (IMO) to replace the whole actuator than try and swap out the solenoid.

    Surge Brakes Locked Up

Surge brakes should have a solenoid that is activated by the circuit for the backup lights on the tow vehicle to prevent the brakes from coming on when reversing the trailer. If this solenoid is not working, you can have some trouble backing up, especially if going uphill. When parking, after...

    Fill the dead space

Until you stop the water ingress, all you're going to end up with is wet foam. You should store the boat with the bow raised high enough to allow the water to drain aft and out the drain hole in the transom.

    Lake Powell General Information

AIS is the context of Lake Powell and other places refers to Aquatic Invasive Species. These are plants and animals that are non-native to the body of water in question. Some lakes are taking steps to try and prevent the introduction of invasive species to their bodies of water. There are rules...

    Keep trailer or sell it?

One of the best things about my CD22 is that it is portable. Having a trailer allows me to bring the boat to my house to do work on it (where all my tools are). Where I live, we have winter. Having a trailer allows me to pull the boat out of the water and store it away to my liking without...

    Anchor Drum Winch

Depends on the load on the rode. For the anchor on my boat, 3/8 3-strand works fine.

    Guiltless Remodel Job

One thing to realize is that the bulkhead on the port side is also the backrest for the forward dinette seat. If you remove it, you have to figure out another means of support if you plan on using the dinette. This is not terribly difficult to do, but it is something that will need to be sorted...

    Pre-resolving my two-footitis

I would check out the Venture 23 compared to the CD22. The cabin is taller and the windows larger/higher. http://web.archive.org/web/20070403042402/http://www.threeriversmarineinc.com/compare.html

    Pre-resolving my two-footitis

I've looked hard at the Rossi from time to time. Compared to the CD22 it is a larger and heavier boat. The hull shape is different. These features will give a better ride in rougher water and the expense of speed and fuel economy. You can stand up in the V-berth. However, on most models the...

    Canvas

I was thinking about this. Yes the CD22 is sensitive to crosswinds especially at low speeds in confined spaces. Having a camper back up will give more windage to blow the boat sideways. However, my CD22 wants to swing the cabin down wind as soon as the steerageway comes off if there is a...
