    Make it shine.

Actually I’m not sure that I need the buffer to get the gelcoat clean. I see there are a number of options for cleaning that are wipe on or brush on and off and may work in the case of this staining I see on the lower surfaces of the boat. I want to apply bottom paint and wonder if that...

    Make it shine.

I’ve had the boat in the water four times since June. Nice boat. But it’s taking on a yellow patina from halfway down the white on the outside and down past the waterline. I’m thinking about using Maguire’s assortment of oxidation remover, polish and wax. It seems like a simple enough solution...

    Shifting Cable stretched

Oh gosh. I did it again. Instead of steering cable read shifting cable. It’s the shifting cable that needs to be replaced. Should I do both Shifting cables while I’m at it. Thanks for your patience.

    Lake Champlain

On Saturday We leave for a week or so on Lake Champlain. I hope "Champ" doesn't get us. Today a friend from the AGLCA said he saw a C-Dory 22 on the Lake and I'm wondering if that person is here on C-Brats? If so PM me please for a battery of questions.

    Shifting Cable stretched

My Dealer diagnosed that Thistle has a worn/stretched out steering cable on the port side. He has it adjusted out as far as he feels safe. I have never replaced one of these on this boat and "it wonders me" if I shouldn't just go ahead and replace both while I'm at it. Are these pretty straight...

Many ways to sink a boat: Plug, Washdown, and Bilge Pump

Wife is putting together checklists for everything. It should help. I now have a checklist I follow every time I launch or trailer our C-Dory. That's the best way to avoid a critical oversight.

    Fuel Separation

Thanks for the encouragement. I plan to harvest the gas and reuse it for other vehicles. When I siphon/pump it out into clear gas containers I'll be able to see the difference and will pour it off and get rid of the water.

    Fuel Separation

Mark, Sounds great then. I'll do it. but I'll be using Startron by Starbrite. I own it as of yesterday (amazon) and is rated very highly for fuel issues. I'll let ya know how it works. I wonder how much water, in ounces, is in there. Could it be several pints or is is likely just a few ounces...

    Yellowstone Lake

https://www.isa-arbor.com/Newsroom I was a member of ISA in 1980 and won the state level climbing competition. From there I went on to compete in the national event which was held in the beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego. I took 5th I believe. That was my first time out of PA by airplane. It...

    Fuel Separation

Schuster and Mark, Since you both have had issues in this area, and have successfully worked your way through them, I humbly ask if keep an eye on the glass of the separator, and empty it when water shows up, can I safely pull off the ten or twelve days left on my vacation? Since both engines...

Thanks Mark, easily done. I'm hoping to lear more on this piston effect. I use the Grease on many electrical fittings already.

    Screwed!

Well well well, guess what I found. It had a junky Jabsco pump as a wash down pump. Someone decided it would be best to screw it to the inside of the transom and use silicone...SILICONE... to waterproof the screws. A terrible install. I'm glad I discovered this atrocity. This particular pump...

    Fuel Separation

Schuster, If I am on top of it it is because of this group. Thanks for the testimonial. Did you remove your tanks to empty them?

    Fuel Separation

That sounds like solid advice. I'll have to see about the removal process.

    Yellowstone Lake

robhwa, I live along the Delaware at Easton PA and have often enjoyed canoeing it. But once I anchored along the barrier islands of Barnegat I could no longer forget the bigger bodies of water and the peacefulness they provide. I was a farm kid with little exposure to the outside world and it...
