    Boat Covers

I posted a version of this in the towing section, but this might be a better place.. I did a dumb thing. I had the cockpit cover snapped onto my cruiser while towing. I figured (a) it keeps everything inside (b) keep the rain, wind and dirt out (c) theft deterrent and (d) better aerodynamics...

    Boat covers and Towing

I did a dumb thing. I had the cockpit cover snapped onto my cruiser while towing. I figured (a) it keeps everything inside (b) keep the rain, wind and dirt out (c) theft deterrent and (d) better aerodynamics.. That worked fine for the first day. Then it got hot the next day. Heat = looser and...

    Puget to Powell

I just towed my 16' Cruiser down to my 2nd home in Escalante, UT. Plan to go explore Lake Powell sometime between now and Mid-October. I heard the level was up enough to launch this year, but the drought is still the dominant long-term pattern in the region. So, I figure this is a good time to...

My boat has an amazing Suspension system in choppy water

Who new a boat could have a suspension!?! It's so cool. As soon as the hull starts to bang, it's just enough vibration to make the throttle level "throttle back" a hair, which slows the boat down just enough to not bang anymore! Then I get the most speed possible while still having a relatively...

    ISO backup prop Honda 110

My thoughts on this: (a) Air-fuel *ratio* is key to optimum combustion, efficiency and power. At higher elevation, the air density drops (less oxygen) and the ratio goes off. The computer can adjust this ratio back to optimum (less gas), otherwise it'd be running too rich (less power). I believe...

    ISO backup prop Honda 110

UPDATE: The Honda west coast Master Tech just talked me out of a lower pitch. Instead he thinks I should go up to a 16 or 17 pitch.. why? Because (a) Newer fuel injected Honda's have barometers in them and the computer adjusts for elevation! (b) Even with more load in a C-Dory, top speed is...

    ISO backup prop Honda 110

Good to know. My BF100 is essentially a 90, but considered a 100 with premium fuel (I think).

    ISO backup prop Honda 110

Thanks for the info guys! Yes, I have a 13.5" x 15 prop. With just me on a 22' Angler, I can get up to 6200 RPM (the range is 5500-6300, with 5900 recommended as optimum). However, I am planning a family boat camping and fishing trip (FOUR adults + gear). Also, I may got to places like Lake...

Nav lights on when motor is running?

This raises a really interesting question My 16' Cruiser only has the red/green Nav light and the "all-around" anchor light. My 22' Angler has the red/green nav lights, and "all-around" anchor light, and an aft-facing "steaming light". There is no forward facing steaming light. So now I'm...

Nav lights on when motor is running?

So my navigation lights only seem to come on when the motor is running. With the motor off, and they key in the "on" position, I get power to the dash, etc, but no Nav lighs until I actually turn the key fully clockwise and start and run the motor. Is that how it's supposed to be? For...

Dual tanks - how to have two gauges?

Hi, There are two big tanks in the back of my 22', and one electronic gauge on the dash that only reads the "total " amount of gas. I like to know how much is in each individual tank. Is there an easy way to get gauges on each tank? Mechanical or otherwise?

Ooops - typo.. That's a Honda 100. If I want a 4-blade prop for this motor, what size should it be?

    Boat tool kit

This is a great conversation, thanks all! BTW, Does Honda have one of those "Motor tool kits" that are specific to their motors?

    Boat tool kit

I wasn't sure if this was a "general" or "safety" topic. I went with safety, because I personally don't feel safe going on a boating adventure without at least some basic tools. Here's my question: I got a "Mariners Tool Set" (Brand: GreatNeck). I'm pretty happy with it, except it's SAE (no...

How to Heat a 22 Angler?

Good point. The 22 Angler has a small cabin, so not much space to heat. And temps in the 30's-50's. I probably won't go out if it's below freezing. I'd also consider the little-buddy heater, although they do require a bit of ventilation I think.. Anyone used one of those?

How to Heat a 22 Angler?

I'm exited to extend my boating into the cooler parts of the year. What is the best way to heat a 22 Angler? Can a single burner Wallas do the trick (providing both a heater and a stove?)

    Requesting recommendation on prop

Have a pretty new Honda 100 with a 3-blade. Would like to get a 4-blade (alum), but what size should I get? (I'm more concerned with getting out of the hole, and control, than top speed.)
