8 mpg on step at 20-30 mph would be amazing. I honestly think it's impossible. I get a lot of 3-5 mpg and I can't imagine doubling it. I do like the Yamaha 70 though, but I've heard it doesn't have the grunt of larger displacement 70 hp outboards - no idea if that is really true of not.

The above posts are excellent. The first question I'd ask is what do you know about C-Dory boats....I'm serious. Some of these folks, at least up here, have zero experience with the brand and are a complete joke.

I agree it is possible to clean all the gunk out of a small tank like that. And yes, you should run some bleach in them every now again to keep the grossness at bay. But I'm not there, maybe it is just beyond saving and leaks some too. Beat me. As Bob said, West Marine can get one. LFS probably...

Tanks are pretty expensive and I don't think I'd discard it because mold and mildew unless it is a last resort.

I generally like the Wallas. But, there are better stoves and way better heaters out there. However, there are not any/many that perform both duties like the it does. My experience is when the temps get below about 35-40 F, the Wallas doesn't do all that much but keep some of the chill at bay...

You'll get a lot of opinions on this for sure. I'm not down that way, but I suspect they're both on the small side for your intended usage unless you really pick your days. But if you're set on these models.....I like the cat better if all things are equal...like price, condition, age, hours....

I like having one and feel safer with it there. Could you get by without one? Of course. I'd be pretty reluctant to spend a fortune getting one made or shipping one to you, but that's just me. If you have a good C-Dory dealer in your area and are willing to wait, they will often ship it for you...
