    Self-bail installation for 19' C-dory query

This might be one of those times where it's just easier to get a whole different boat.

    Sad story. C-Dory in Sitka.

Terrible. No other words for it. The ocean can be such an unforgiving place.

Outboard motor up or down for winter storage?

Mice can be just terrible - they completely destroyed an inflatable boat of mine not too long ago. Apparently, they felt the need to chew holes in it everywhere. However, they didn't get away with it.....they're dead mice now.

New Here, Recently Fell in Love with the 22 Cruiser

I have found that you can go too slow in 2 feet of chop. 3 feet of steep chop is just miserable in just about any boat this size. But you can go too slow in that as well. Anyway....with the tabs lifting the stern and the engine trimmed properly, the ride is decent on step even going into it. The...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

All things being equal with 2 boats, sea states, and speed, the only differences between a properly running and propped 70, 90, or 115 modern 4 stroke outboard on the back of any CD 22 is going to be the size of the lower unit, and the swept area of the internals of the engine. And the...

    Disc brake pad failure.

Trailers suck. I love them and hate them. Running them in salt just exacerbates the problems. I don't think you'll ever get rid of the corrosion problem, but I thoroughly check everything on mine each year as there is always a rusted something, a bearing needing repacked, or a stuck brake. I...

Repowering 22 Cruiser w/ new twin Hondas

A 40 hp 4 stroke gas motor should burn very close to 4 GPH at wide open throttle and 6k RPMs if everything is in properly working order no matter if it is fuel injected or has a flux capacitor. In reality, it's just math pertaining to volumetric efficiency. Newer designs usually are slightly...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

Like you, I can get 5 MPG and plan on 3 MPG. When I get 5, it means the boat isn't full of cruising/fishing/shrimping/hunting crap and I keep it at 4500 rpms, which is around 17-18 mph on mostly flat water with little current. I actually get 4-5 or very close to it very consistently when I use...

    Fishing in Norway

I like the idea of a Google search. But there is so much more to do there than fishing....Going there is on my bucket list, but so are 20 other places....lol...

New Here, Recently Fell in Love with the 22 Cruiser

The CD 22 is an amazing boat. If your priorities are a simplistic, seaworthy, and economical vessel, there isn't one better. It's even pretty comfortable for extended cruises, but there are better choices....and way bigger/expensive choices for those adventures. I've had mine for a really long...

    MPG on a new 22 angler with a 70

8 mpg on step at 20-30 mph would be amazing. I honestly think it's impossible. I get a lot of 3-5 mpg and I can't imagine doubling it. I do like the Yamaha 70 though, but I've heard it doesn't have the grunt of larger displacement 70 hp outboards - no idea if that is really true of not.

Running is a pretty good idea. But first, wipe your prints off everything.

Finally found a candidate, need some help.

Anything is fixable but I feel the price is too high. 10 ish grand for a boat that needs lots of repairs is going to cost a good amount of bucks even if you can do it yourself. The trailer? It looks ok for running in fresh water. The salt will finish it off fast if that is in your plan. And...

How to Heat a 22 Angler?

FYI - when installed mine a couple years back, I researched them in great detail. I remember reading they all come out of the same factory over there and there little to no difference in any of them...other than BTU rating....and that was sort of a little lie as well since the 5kw and the 8kw...

    What kind of marine survey?

The above posts are excellent. The first question I'd ask is what do you know about C-Dory boats....I'm serious. Some of these folks, at least up here, have zero experience with the brand and are a complete joke.

Need to Replace A Sink's Fresh Water Tank

I agree it is possible to clean all the gunk out of a small tank like that. And yes, you should run some bleach in them every now again to keep the grossness at bay. But I'm not there, maybe it is just beyond saving and leaks some too. Beat me. As Bob said, West Marine can get one. LFS probably...

Need to Replace A Sink's Fresh Water Tank

Tanks are pretty expensive and I don't think I'd discard it because mold and mildew unless it is a last resort.

How to Heat a 22 Angler?

I generally like the Wallas. But, there are better stoves and way better heaters out there. However, there are not any/many that perform both duties like the it does. My experience is when the temps get below about 35-40 F, the Wallas doesn't do all that much but keep some of the chill at bay...

Venture 26 or Tomcat 255 help me decide

You'll get a lot of opinions on this for sure. I'm not down that way, but I suspect they're both on the small side for your intended usage unless you really pick your days. But if you're set on these models.....I like the cat better if all things are equal...like price, condition, age, hours....

22 cruiser - no bow pulpit rail?

I like having one and feel safer with it there. Could you get by without one? Of course. I'd be pretty reluctant to spend a fortune getting one made or shipping one to you, but that's just me. If you have a good C-Dory dealer in your area and are willing to wait, they will often ship it for you...
