    Single Vs. Twin Engine Pro/Com

I often do too. Somewhere in that dialog above was to buy the best boat you can find regardless if it has twins or a single. I completely agree.

    Salt Water in PortaPotti Flush

Back to the original poster....you got some good answers and yes you can safely use salt water in the portable toilet. But, it probably depends on the toilet....mine is rated for salt water usage and others may not be.

    Anchor chain

100 feet of chain is a lot for a CD 22. My own personal experience in Alaska is 40-50 feet or chain, a 14 pound Danforth (or whatever), and 250-300 ish feet of the stuff west marine sold me is more than enough even when it is whipping up real good. On a proper set, it has never slipped. However...

Dual tanks - how to have two gauges?

    Yup. Super easy and effective.

1st use of composting toilet. Not sure I'll keep it.

That might the first time that question has ever been asked on this site. Dang near spit out my coffee! Since appears you do have to stir it, and that is gross, if it were mine it would be on FB Marketplace really soon.

    Pilot House 20

I have never loved the raised pilot helm and having to go below. And as Bob pointed out, it probably is restricted in the headroom department down in the cabin and that would get old fast. One of the things I like about the CD 22/25 (others too) is helm is integrated into the cabin and there is...

Large dink - 25 Cruise Ship

I think that is the best solution as well :-)

    C-Dory 14 What's it worth

A person doesn't get much for 10k these days. I'd probably list it for a bit higher than that. Is $1,000 a foot too much?

    honda 150 will not start

Ignition control modules, also called ignitors or CDI units, can and do fail. I've replaced them before, and the way your failure happened, it wouldn't surprise me in the least it just flat out died on you.

How much pressure in the tank?

That should have been directly vented into the atmosphere..oops!

Large dink - 25 Cruise Ship

Nothing I can think of on your typical day - might not be that fun at the dock.

    2012 Yamaha motor question.

I would say the best running boat motor I have ever had is a 40 hp four stroke yamaha jet. Yamaha makes great stuff in my opinion and their outboards are generally fantastic. If it runs out well, doesn't blow smoke on heavy acceleration, has good oil pressure, and doesn't make any unusual...

How much pressure in the tank?

You should not have pressure in your boat tank as it is directed directly into the atmosphere.

    Paint the trim tabs ?

I don't think I can recall ever seeing a trim tab that didn't have antifoul paint on it if the rest of the boat had it. I guess I'll have to pay more attention, but I have a hard time thinking of a scenario where you wouldn't want it there too as long as you were in the process of doing it...

    honda 150 will not start

Thanks Bob for the very informative posting. I didn't know that 6 gauge recommendation and not using wing nuts. I also bet most folks didn't realize there is a torque recommendation for battery hardware and suspect their nuts are all too tight....LOL...I remember working in the RV industry and...

    honda 150 will not start

My experience is they are generally fine. The problem is getting them off quickly....you might be able to with wingnuts. Also, they can melt if there is a lot of current. And finally, they are generally considered a one time use item. With all that said, it probably doesn't matter that much. I...

Keep us in the loop and I hope it is an easy and inexpensive fix :-)

    honda 150 will not start

You need to verify compression, spark and fuel otherwise we're all just shooting rounds up into the night sky hoping to hit something. As always check the simple and easy stuff first is my advice.

    Limits of a C -Dory 16

I'd go ahead and buy a good condition CD 16 (if that is the one you want) and do what Bob said, go out to Crescent Lake or Sutherland and get a feel for it in a safe place. In fact, that is good advice for any boat you end up buying.

    Limits of a C -Dory 16

I think others have explained it pretty well. I can add a bit of anectodical information, and that is in the right hands a 16 foot boat can do things that you just shouldn't be able to do in a 16 foot boat. It's amazing where you see 16 foot skiffs up here. And it's even more amazing how many...
