    Thrusters on a C-Dory

What everyone else said.....a thruster sounds expensive and a ton of work on a CD 25 - if even really possible. I guess with enough money anything is.

No way to turn power to motor off but not house?

What you have sounds typical of what I have seen in the boat and RV industry. But there are ways to easily isolate the starting battery as well. I have my ways and others have their's....they all work. However, I wouldn't worry about this. A healthy starting battery will be fine for many...

    Boat HP rating

This gets discussed a lot...never seems to die actually. I honestly don't think about it much as the transoms are very sturdy and well engineered. If you were worried, you can always add in some knees to help support the weight and dynamic loads. I would think the issue and concern is weight...

Damaged 22 Cruiser at aution in AK

    I guess so. It's terrible.

Damaged 22 Cruiser at aution in AK

I won't speculate, but is the one that sank near Sitka with loss of life?

    Carb vs. EFI kicker?

Best first post ever! That's really something to consider as well. I have a tough enough time with my 38 pound 3.5 hp that I will use the shrimp pot puller as a davit. I can't imagine twice as heavy and man handling it.

    Carb vs. EFI kicker?

Sounds like you're sold on a carb. It's a good thing you're comfortable working on carbs because if you have one you're going to being just that...at least eventually. With that said, I don't have issues with carbs and if stored properly and run without ethanol I think they provide good service...

    Twin Honda 50 feedback needed

Twin counter rotating 60s sounds the way to go to me. I didn't know they were a thing in that size. I suspect in a light boat like the 22, they would make a big difference in overall handling and performance. I suspect they would counter many of the stresses on the transom as well, but I can't...

    Tow-Vehicle/Trailer safety while cruising.

Good advice all around, and Colby is right, that is why we pay our insurance premiums! Having nothing worth stealing in your truck is helpful as well. Anyway, I don't spend much time worrying about it.

    Twin Honda 50 feedback needed

I would repower with the 60s and I don't think it matters if it's with Honda or the Suzuki engines as they both have solid reputations. There has been some chatter about small displacement vs large displacement comparisons and longevity, and I think there is some merit to the discussion, but I...

    Northwest Lake Cruise

Good advice on Roosevelt. I think Spring Canyon will be open and if remember right the no go level is 1272. It's down by the dam and trout fishing can be outstanding, which might be an understatement. There is a campground there too, but I think there are FAR better ones just up the lake. I've...

    FNG in AZ

Welcome to the C-Brats! I agree with Jay - the boat makes a fine camper. There is a good amount of space, comfortable sleeping, and has a decent enough kitchen. The downfall is the lack of a proper bathroom, but you're probably used to that since you own a Grandby.

Balsa Wood on the Tomcat 2006+?

I'd go find a good TC 255, take a good hard look at it and maybe pay somebody to survey it, do a sea trial, and then buy it if it looks good and if what you want. The chances are it's perfectly fine. And if something comes up, which happens with every boat when given enough time and usage, you...

    Outboard Weight

I think it's pretty cool they got 140 hp out of 1.6 liters....and that's only about 100 cubes. There once was a day that everyone thought 1 hp per cube was reasonably safe on a pushrod engine - even if you beat on it hard. However, those days have long pasted us by with improved metallurgy...

    Outboard Weight

Bob - I agree it's interesting they published the torque curve. The curves for horsepower and torque always crosses at 5252 rpm - it's a math thing. Anyway, in analyzing the 115 from Tohatsu, it leads me to believe that while it says 115 hp on the sticker, the outboard is probably quite a bit...

    Outboard Weight

Get the one you want. The weights you cited are not that much different. Think about all the twin powered boats out there with multiple batteries and heavy splash well coolers - they're fine and probably right at the 500 pound limit if not a bit over.

All I want for Christmas is a new engine...

I personally think flushing is important, but not something you must do rigorously. I probably only do it a couple times a season and have nearly 3000 hours on my engines. But the water here is really cold, maybe that makes a difference? I don't know.

    12 volts battery issue

If the battery stays charged out of the car then the problem is a drain from the car. It looks like you found the problem with the seat. Thankfully that is pretty easy to track down.

    Refilling Wallas tank

He's not wrong. I do exactly what he said in our shoulder seasons. A small portable sitting on the splash well is a good thing when you need it.

All I want for Christmas is a new engine...

That's a lot of money - almost as much as paid for my boat years ago.
