    C-Dory 25 question from newby

Thank you for the pic. It answers my question even if I confused everybody by not realizing that the hatch isn't located over the floor area. I do need to see a real boat as soon as I can find one to see somewhere in the southern half of Florida. We're moving down in size again from a Mainship...

    Paint the trim tabs ?

Anybody ever tried the spray on zinc coating (cold galvanizing) that some of the big boat guys are using on their running gear these days? I've never used it but some of my trawler friends swear by it for growth prevention.

Cleaning hard water (lime?) deposits from boat (Powell)

On our boat we mix a small amount of CLR liquid in the wash water. It dissolves lime deposits and acts like a wetting agent so stuff runs off better. It's cheap and available at any grocery , hardware or big box store. Good luck, Bob http://www.thecarycompany.com/container ... rface.html

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

Thanks all, I'll be going with the little Honda generator (When I get a CD) which will do much more than just heat some shower water. It can be my household back up during hurricane season too, if I haven't taken the boat nort for the summer. Bob

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

Thanks Flyer , that's pretty close to what I was thinking was possible. Every engine makes heat, it's just determining if it's feasible to harness it.

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the little gen set is the simple and reliable way to go. I just have a lot to learn about the ins and outs of these little beauties.

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

In our diesel inboard powered boats we had the ability to route heated water from the fresh water cooling system through the heat exchanger in the water heater so we had nice hot water at the end of each cruising day. I have never owned a big outboard engine powered craft and I was wondering if...

    Is AIS in the house?

Please let me know which forum is the proper place for newbies to check in and say howdy, I didn't see a heading for that and didn't want to hijack somebody else's thread to do it. (Like this).

    Is AIS in the house?

I'm a new member so I hope I don't screw up this reply. We have been using 2 apps from MarineTraffic.com for about two years and it works well for us on the east coast of Florida and when I'm the shore contact for my son in Boston who lives on his trawler and cruises to Cape Cod and Nantucket...
