    Westport for Albacore and Coho

Thanks Roger, Maybe I could let the fish bleed into the fish boxes but not pump them out until out of the fishing area. My fishboxes are insulated so I could pack one with ice. I don't think Ann wants to see all that blood so I'm looking for someone else that does.

    It's here, it's here, it's here!

Congratulations Roger. I expect we might be seeing one another on the fishing grounds.

    Westport for Albacore and Coho

Since I'm getting tired of waiting for the Coho to arrive in the Strait and Puget Sound, I'm thinking of trying Westport. Reports are very good and many boats are getting tuna and limits of salmon. I don't have downriggers yet but I believe the tuna fishery is top-water and I know the Cohos are...

    Kicker on a Tomcat

Roger, Yes, that's the idea. Since the waterline when at rest or at slow speeds is only 10-12" below the top of the motor bracket, a short shaft should be fine. I was picturing something somewhat permanent off to one side so the ladder could still be used. Something like this.

    Kicker on a Tomcat

The boat does troll fine as it is but I am told that many people use a kicker to save wear and hours on their main engines and that made sense to me. Also since I want to have the motor on board for the dinghy, why not mount it an the rear where it is accessible for transferring to the dinghy...

    Kicker on a Tomcat

Has anyone put a kicker on a Tomcat? I have a 6hp Suzuki and I was thinking of using it as a kicker and also a motor for the dinghy but I wonder how it would fit between the twins.

The patches are always in the same place, even in the garage.

    Radar question

Good idea to call Simrad. Talked to Brian there and he was very helpful. He suggested I first update the software for the chart plotter and the radar. I also asked about a randomly intermittent sounder which he suggested might be an air bubble in the transducer liquid chamber.

    Radar question

I believe the tower has a 5 degree forward tilt. It doesn't seem to show any waves, even at Neah Bay with 4-6' swells and 3-4'chop. The ghosts seem to be always there, always aft and boats small and large show up well in any direction except the rear where they are lost in the ghosts. I haven't...

    time for crab cards

Don't forget about MA13, everything south of the Narrows. It's open until January 1st. We went out Sat-Sunday and got a Dungeness and some rock crab and even heard then spotted a few Orcas off Anderson Island. I will definitely send in my catch card, it doesn't have much on it.

    Radar question

After installing a new radar, there seems to be some kind of false images aft that are pretty much always there. I assume this is caused by the post for the anchor light or the GPS receiver but I'm not sure if I just need to raise the GPS or if the 1" diameter post will still cause a problem...
