Question re Optima yellow top batteries

I'd just stick them on a regular car battery charger, and see if the voltage is brought up and how long they hold the charge. If they work, they work. You may be able to find a date stamp on them somewhere. Also, I would check the casing to insure there is no damage anywhere.

best place to buy garmin electonics

I second Steve's mention of Hodges. I forgot to mention them with my earlier post. (I was actually thinking of Hodges when I typed Fisheries supply.) Colby

best place to buy garmin electonics

https://www.fisheriessupply.com/ is another store I have found certain items fairly priced. And many times, I find that West Marine, with it's sales, can offer a good deal. And at least with my local store, returns are very easy. I'm not sure, but I think they will price match as well.

    C-Brat Burgee, New 2024

Just wanted to bring this up again, in case anyone is interested in getting a C-Brat burgee for their boat. A lot of effort was put into getting a new burgee made available. Thank you.

C-Dory 25 Cruiser - Real World Engine Upgrade Options

So was twin 150's a typo, or do you really have twin 150's on the back of your 25? If you have twin 150's, what kind of fuel numbers and top speed are you seeing? Any problem with the weight on the transom?

    Rub Rail rivet size

This may not answer your question specifically, but may help. This is what I posted in another thread when I had to repair the rub rail on my 25. "Finished up reinstalling my rubrail today. I ended up using ss machine screws, washers and nylon lock nuts. 1/4 x 20 x 1 1/4"." See...

    Introduction and lots of questions!

Electric brakes are required on trailers in Canada that are over 3,086 lbs (1400 kg). They don't have to be EOH, they can be straight electric as well. Trailer is also required to have a breakaway system to activate the brakes in case of disconnection from the tow vehicle. Some US states also...

    Fuel Separation

In regards to pumping fuel out of your tanks. My main fuel filter has two "out" ports. One goes to my main outboard, while the other has a connector fitting for the line to my kicker. I have a small electric pump I purchased from Amazon, that I placed a fuel hose on with a female connector on...

    Trailer Lights

I always unplug my pigtail, but once in a great while will forget. Probably ancestry worship from days of incandescent lighting. Now days the LED lights are sealed. I also use the waterproof connectors if I'm repairing something. Any problems I've had with lighting, usually falls to a bad...

    Flushing Techniques

Just wanted to point out this thread is 15 years old. Engines have probably changed some in that time. 8) That being said, I would think one could hook a hose up to the flushing attachment and flush the engine with fresh water. If left down, the lower unit would still be in salt water, but...

    Pictures not showing up

I too am very proud of this site. Both DaNag and Tyboo put a lot of time into keeping it going, and I very much appreciate it. I'm sure some hair loss has been involved! Colby

    Charging issues

I’m hesitant to reply on many electrical questions because without knowing how the boat is wired or a specific schematic, there really is no way of knowing. Too many boats, particularly used, are wired differently by their past and current owners and I’m not so sure even the manufacturers wire...

    Charging issues

On mine there is no switch at the helm. If the main battery switch is on, there is 12vt power to the refrigerator. It is then turned on or off at the refrigerators temperature rheostat on the front upper face of the frig. Colby

    Guest Chargers

Hi Dave, If the red and green light on, that means it's finishing a charge. This from the manual: When both the green and the red LED’s are on, it is charging at the "Finishing" rate. (stage 2). During this second charging stage, the charger holds the battery voltage at approximately 14.3...

    Guest Chargers

FWIW, I put a Mastervolt charger in my 25 right after purchasing the boat. It only lasted 3 seasons, and then started working intermittently. I finally gave up on it, and purchased a new one, same model, last year. Tom may have a point... I did pull it apart before trashing it, and didn't...

16 foot Jon Boat attempts the Great loop speed record.

I think a few are missing the point. That is the scenery if you are in a hurry just to make a record! If you want to race, go find a race to participate in. I look at the Great Loop, the Inside Passage, the PNW, as beautiful places to enjoy nature and scenery. Or to meet people from other...

16 foot Jon Boat attempts the Great loop speed record.

Trip Smith posted on facebook about this guy and his trip. Some pretty good info. But what I got out of it, is even Trip thinks this guy is operating somewhat dangerously. (Although he still wishes this guy a lot of luck and thinks he is having the time of his life....and Trip admitted to not...

Rub rail - slit behind rail

I did get a return call from Greg at NWMI this morning. He said he would have recommended exactly what I did. That is to use the machine screws and nuts. He said that when they took over in 2009, that they started using screws to attach the rub rails and then put some extra fiberglass over the...

C-Dory 25 Cruiser - Real World Engine Upgrade Options

I've been quite happy with my Yamaha F150 four stroke EFI. That being said, if and when I repower, I think I'd like to stay with Yamaha so I don't have to change out all my digital gauges. Seems pretty easy to find Yamaha shops as well. And if a 175 existed, I might be interested. However I'm...
