Android vs Apple for Navigation use

Interesting...that's news to me. They were still updating the Android app as recently as a month ago. Do you have a link to an official announcement of this? They are discontinuing products - but it's for both Android and iOS, and both platforms have replacements.

Android vs Apple for Navigation use

I welcome corrections, but in five minutes of research I see numerous functions/features missing in Aqua Map that are present in Navionics: - No autorouting - No MFD integration (waypoint/route sync w/Simrad and perhaps others) - No AIS on Android (iOS only, and only w/Master add-on) - No...

    Buh-bye, Taco. Sniff.

I'm not going anywhere. I love the Nordic, and its departure is far from certain. However, one would think after spending nearly two decades with C-Brats, the wisdom of smaller/simpler would have sunk in. Should I revert to a smaller boat, plans are to go new. I want something built...

    Buh-bye, Taco. Sniff.

Taco left for greener pastures today. Having only gone out a few times in the last several years, I just couldn't justify continuing to take up space in the garage. The good news is, Taco went to a fellow C-Brat who will spend many a day on Priest Lake with my ol' pal. Taco will join the crew...

    Clearing MMSI on a Link-8

I stumbled upon this "hack" a while back, but didn't have need to use it until today. I'm glad to report - it works! As many of you are aware, once you program your MMSI into your VHF - there's usually no way for you as the owner to change or delete it. Sending it back to the manufacturer is...

Interested in a Port Angeles gathering? New downtown docks!

Short term parking for a few days is not a problem at the marina, and if memory serves - I think it's free or really cheap with purchase of a launch. I'll gather up the details. I've not heard of security being an issue there. However, for an extended period like you or other Brats may be...

Interested in a Port Angeles gathering? New downtown docks!

I've always thought my lovely little town of Port Angeles had great potential to be a C-Brat gathering location, but have never suggested it for one primary reason. The marina is too far away from everything. It sits beyond the shipyards, quite a ways from downtown, and is admittedly not very...

    08/16 - 08/18 - Bellingham 2019

Signup for the C-Brat gathering is linked in the first message of this thread. HERE it is again, though. There's no signup sheet for the Factory Tour. If you are getting yourself there, just show up at 9:30AM. If you need a ride over - reply here so we can get a rough number of seats needed for...

Hey all...two things. First, due to circumstances beyond my control - I don't have a boat available - I can't make it. Please be nice to Brock. He's running this gig solo now. Buy him a pizza, tell him you like his haircut, anything really - it doesn't take much with him. Second, and...

    Chart Plotter / Auto Pilot

I've not worked with the Garmin integrated units, and my last experience with Raymarine was pretty old tech - C80 era. Not mentioned so far is Simrad. Yes, same manufacturer as Lowrance - but you might take a peek at the NSS series. I've found the chartplotter/AP/4G functions to be superb, and...

    Raymarine C80 & Navionics

I've engaged Navionics in a couple chat sessions recently about hardware compatibility. They seemed quite knowledgeable. Have you checked out their compatibility list? It lists the C80, albeit at the bottom as having "Limited Chart Size Capability". Whatever that means...

    Apple vs Android

I've an older (4 years old?) iPad and several Android devices, all running the latest version of Navionics. If there's a significant difference between them functionally, I've not seen it. The devices themselves - I lean Android, the iPad no longer gets used. Since I use Navionics only as...

Y'all Make The Coleman Lantern Folks Seem Exciting

Depends on location, but point well taken. It can be a major PITA, or almost a non-issue. In WA, getting an oversize permit is relatively cheap and easy online. Even if permits weren't an issue, I'd not tow a Nordic 26 significant distances. It's just no fun - it's a LOT of boat and trailer...
