    Winterizing my 25

Terry, I have a 2007 25' cruiser and it is plumbed for bypass of the hot water tank. You might post a picture of the piping, someone will be able to analyze it.

    Short trip towing

Danjenni I have owned a 2500 HD with the Duramax diesel and loved the truck till it started having issues that kept me in the garage too much with injector problems at 160,000 miles. I replace the 3 bad injectors and traded that truck in on a 2017 RAM 2500 HD with the Cummins Diesel. I love...

    Short trip towing

Coach07 I had a Silverado with a 5.3 that I hauled a 21' Pompano Diesel lobster boat from Ramrod Key Florida to Bremerton, Washington. It hauled the load pretty good till the headwinds hit and the climb up the Rockies. That having been said, the Pompano was considerably lighter. I also towed...

    Recommendations on a Trailer C Dory 2006 Cruiser 25

Lou, since you've already got the brakes done and i assume the bearings are ok if you've done the brakes. It isn't that expensive to put new bunks on compared to a new trailer. I would put on the new bunks and cover them with the plastic skids. They make loading/launching much easier. You'll...

    05/11 - 05/14 - OFFICIAL 2023 Friday Harbor CBGT

Pelican, I just checked my Windy app and it predicts SW winds 5-6 knots between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and the tide will be an outgoing to a low of -2.0'. There are other folks that do that crossing far more often than we do who may have something to add, but I would think that to be pretty good...

    Introduction + PNW advice

Yes C-Sprite, Gary gave good advice. I used Portland Marine to install my Garmin electronics. The reason to go to Oregon to purchase equipment is primarily to save from paying the tax (almost 10 % in most Washington state counties) That adds up quick when you're buying electronics. Good Luck!

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

So you were able to check in the CBP App alone without a NEXUS pass? I like that idea a lot. I know my wife and I were having a little difficulty using the app parked outside the customs office. An officer walking by helped us finish the entries in about 15 seconds and we were on our way. It...

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

Steve and Joanie, good info on not having to leave the boat to use the phone on the dock at Bedwell. Does the phone number work for other entry points as well? That simplifies things a bit. Now if I understand correctly you did not use the ArriveCan App before you entered Bedwell Harbor...

    PNW Current Chart App

StarcrafTom, I was just looking at the DeepZoom website and really like it. As long as you can use your computer its a good source for nav planning. I rely on my Garmin Chartplotter as it has a wealth of info, but you always need a backup plan. I'd like to see DeepZoom on an app.

    Classic 2023 Timonier

Nice looking boat. I tend to like the classic working boat lines. However after having owned a 21 ranger tug with a Yanmar diesel (old school before they got fancy), then a 21 Pompano with a 75 Yanmar made by Atlas Boat Works and then a 25' Acadia with a 170 Yanmar diesel also made by Atlas...

    2012 Yamaha motor question.

Ken, first off I don't own a Yamaha and have never worked on one, but believe they are on top of their game. Great motors. If it were me looking to purchase it I would want a sea trial. if that isn't possible I would want to have a certified mechanic look at it. That would probably be at...

    honda 150 will not start

Roger, I would have to agree with T.R. in that you need a good starting point. I would check each battery separately as you mentioned you only replaced 1 battery which can be a problem. If one battery has a short in it, it can bring the other one down too. I would have both of the batteries...

Cannon Rail / Side Mount on back rail.

Yes, I have a 2007 25' cruiser and have a cross bar between the side rails over the splash well which is where I mount my Bar B Que. I mount my Cannon Downrigger on a Cannon T-bar riser plate. I use a 15lb ball without the boom extended. I will say it has a small amount of spring action but...

    Limits of a C -Dory 16

MartyP you're right about no Destroyer (tin can) sailor ever wanted to be on a Cruiser. I was stationed on two Gearing Class tin cans DD710 USS Gearing and DD709 USS Hugh Purvis and made that trip across the Atlantic in the tail end of a hurricane so know what its all about to 'bob and weave'...

    SeaSport Website

First of all good luck, you've got your hands full. The first place I would look is in the members list. Drop a note to any of the top 3 choices and go from there. PS I've always liked the sea sport.

    Honda EU2200i BlueTooth Generator

MY Honda generator did the same thing. When it is time for an oil change she just shuts down. Change the oil and away we go for another 50 hours or whatever it is programed for. Change the oil and give it a go. Good luck.

    Battery addition

Thanks Dr Bob for getting back to me. So as I understand it, I could get a knock off Vectron meter to monitor my two existing banks which consist of bank 1 is my group 27 starting battery and bank 2 is 2 group 27 house batteries. And for the dingy (8'10" inflatable keel with plywood floor) get...

    Battery addition

Thanks for the replies everyone. I probably wasn't clear that the trolling motor will be to power the dingy so would have to be on a sperate portable battery. That having been said and considering all of your comments, I think the first thing I should do is add a Vectron battery monitor to see...

    Battery addition

Hello fellow Cbrats, I'm looking for suggestions for adding a battery for multiple uses. I presently have 3 Lead Acid batteries (1 year old) and really not sure if I want to replace these however I may need to. Presently when on anchor running the gps anchor watch, the anchor light...

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

Peter and Judy, We've stayed at Ladysmith a few times at the Maritime Society dock. you may want to give them a call as they are very helpful. As far as entering the US there are a couple choices.... Friday harbor or Roche Harbor. you must contact the US Customs office upon arrival. We've...
