    Boat insurance

I enjoyed your reference to C dory ownership and marriage. I have noticed as a veteran owner and C brat follower for many years that we folks spend a lot of time and energy either trying to protect and repair our little boats or “customize” them into something they maybe were never intended to...

    New owner of Lumpsucker

Thanks to TyBoo and DuckDogTitus I was able to track down the current owner and now have the information I need to follow my favorite boat again. C brats to the rescue...again!

    New owner of Lumpsucker

Thanks, I PM’d DuckDogTitus and asked for his help. Just sentimental, these little boats Do get to ya.

    New owner of Lumpsucker

I was the second owner of the sweet 22 Cruiser (and the longest so far, 11 years) that returned to Bellingham 5 years ago and became Lumpsucker. Since then I think she has changed hands once or twice and I am seeking her new name so I can follow her on this site. When I had her she was unnamed...

Looking for single burner gimbled propane stove

All you really have to do is Google: Single burner marine gimbaled stove. Dozens will show up. Relatively inexpensive too. Not always too safe on a boat though.

    Mystery water in cabin

Do you have the requisite Porta potty? Is it stored in the customary place between the cushions in the V berth? Is it’s fresh water tank cracked or leaking? Mine did.

    Both tachs stopped working

Had the same problem years ago with Honda 40’s. After doing everything you’ve done to no avail I took it to a Honda dealer and he replaced charging coils. Problem solved including the batteries low voltages. That’s a clue.

Cockpit Seating: Could this work on a 22' C-dory Cruiser?

Removable (Higher Quality, Marlin brand) folding chairs is what we always used in the cockpit of our 22. Advantages of these includes: take them ashore while beaching, move them around for sun or shade, leave them out or fold them up if extra space is needed, put a cooler between them for a...

    C-Dory Boat Club

Boat clubs are becoming popular that’s for sure. We have one in our marina that has prospered for more than 6 years. They have levels of membership and choices of pontoons, ski boats and deck boats. They are sold out most summer weekends. A majority of the members I see leaving the docks have 4...

    Gunnel Hammock

Not quite as stupid as autocorrect makes me seem: Gun whales?

    Gunnel Hammock

I had a j-clip fastening system on my Premire Pontoon mooring cover. Best system ever. No stretching to make snaps reach. Picture this: curl your right index finger into a “j” shape. Imagine that as a bracket sewn onto each end of the hammock. Now curl your left hand index finger into a “j”...

    So, then there is this....

One of the reasons I retired as early as possible from retail sales. The advent of email seems to make many customers feel entitled to be rude. It always amazed me that some folks thought that the path to getting a salesperson on their side in negotiating a fair deal was to show him where the...

clearance from prop to boat ramp

If you change tow vehicles or borrow a tow vehicle (like i did for seasonal in once and out once be aware: hitch height and bumper height can change things up in a hurry as to skeg clearances!

Wives and the 22 without an enclosed head

Adding this thread to my “First World Problems” file. “The bathroom on my boat is too small” LOL.

    Salvage question.

Insurance company adjusters like claims to skip across their desk, not linger. I tried to report an auto claim insurance fraud once in person (with photos) and the adjuster couldnt get rid of me fast enough.

    R41 - Hull #1 photo's

When I first saw the pictures in July my first thoughts were it’s too busy looking. I didn’t post anything because I was afraid of violating the “just be nice” motto. Well...I actually thought with all of the seating modules, towers and the tubing stantions on the swim deck it looked like a Lego...

    Officially a C-Brat!

Find a vinyl sign maker and get a computer designed sheet set in the custom color and style you want. Select an easily readable font at a distance with bouncy binoculars. At least 4 inch letters for name and avoid cursive, italics, olde English and especially don't get it in all capital letters...

    22’ Cruiser top speed

Twin 40’s (not much different than 50’s regarding top speed) on my 22 with just me I seldom broke 23 and never 25. With all those folks aboard I’d say it did damned well! Trim, wind, current, load, prop, weight and even air temperature effect top speed of the boat. I’d say the seller was honest...

Thoughts on adding a High top

It’s interesting to try and solve problems like this and C-brat’s love to do it but in this case I think you should just get a larger boat that fits your physique and enjoy boating rather than re-building. The Cdory has a classic look and there is the chance that your modifications will make the...
