I would encourage anyone to look at the Ace Line Hauler. It is an economical solution to pulling pots electrically. I have mounts on both my boats for it and have been very happy that I installed it.

Here's the photos I got of the vent. Brock does this resemble your offending fuel vent?? I also noticed that my fuel pickup is in the center of the tank and not in the back end.
