Yes to both for all of the reasons stated previously!!!!!

I had to disassemble the plumbing to my valve under duress, since the valve was plumbed wrong from the factory, and I found out while under way! It actually has only two positions, "Port" and "Starboard". The other two are both off. "Gasoline" is the label for the valve.

Honda 90 (34 hours on engine) about 5700 rpm and 31 mph by GPS with two on board and 25 gallons of fuel plus all the usual safety stuff. Mileage is running about 3.4 mpg.

I've carried throwables for 30 years and never noticed that the label does indeed show the proper way to use the cushion! It does show the neck and leg or arm and leg used to keep the cushion at your chest. I'm wearing mine now, and its quite comfrtable! By the way I'm 6' 3" and it does fit...
