    Holes in the hull

Frustrating right ! That the manufacturer would cut/ exposing the core material and NOT seal it correctly. Painting gel coat over the edge is NOT doing a proper structural seal. What other short cuts might they be taking ? Out of sight, is out of mind!

I might need to buy a trailer

Google Daves Trailer Sales in Glen Bernie, Maryland. I have bought 2 Load Rite tandem axle bunk trailers from them. Both were the same weight rating, like about 8100 pounds. Pricing was about $ 4200 dollars. They have been great to work with, being I was here on the west coast and they are on...

    e tech 250

I have had three in the last 10 years, a 175 hp, and two different 250 hp a 2011 and a 2014. Outboard opinions are like political opinions. None of my motors have had any kind of failures. Trouble-free. Forums ? Look at opinions about THT . The only thing I so not like, the dealer network needs...

    Webasto / Espar knockoffs

I'm glad that the contributor has come to a positive conclusion, the price point is amazing and it supplies heat ( sounds like more than enough heat ). The situation is a double edged sword, not like your home where your power is hooked to the power grid. During start up, the glow plug uses...

    Webasto / Espar knockoffs

Is it truely a thermostat or a rheostat ? I installed a Ardic heater some time ago, the dial device was not a thermostat.

    Evinrude E-TEC G2 Outboards

I repowered a Rosburough 246 that came with a 175 hp E-tec. Motor would have been fine for hull speed only, WOT was about 19 mph. But the boat could not get over the hump. Put a 250 hp E-tec on it, the boat came alive and was a joy to run. WOT was 33 mph. I ran about 5 different props on it...

    26 Venture

You are exactly correct; For many years I fished several days a week out of the Edmonds Marina private garages above the live bait shop. Those facilities have been long gone. Boat had to fit into the garage and pulled by hand to the private sling launcher. For many years I kept a boat out near...

    26 Venture

All boats have compromising qualities. Depending on what your use is, and the local waters you travel, choices are made by individuals with there "own" priority of important factors. Everyone makes there own choice.

    Thru Hull Transducers

So that there is so much concern about another hole in the boat below the waterline. Most important item, " The job needs to be done properly ". Fixing up boats has been a bit of a hobby to me. I have rebuilt many transoms. From experience I can tell you many shops are rather sloppy when...

    Thru Hull Transducers

I have the GT23M-TH transducer which is a thru-hull w/o a speed wheel, providing signal to both a 841xs and a 1040xs. Personally, I have always installed thru-hulls for improved cruise speed signal reception. Transom mounts are much tougher to install to get a fast cruise speed quality signal...

C-Dory 26 Venture vs. Lakes Michigan and Huron

The Ellis looks like a Rosborough on steroids, may be a nice slow cruiser type. Many boaters have left the inboard market going to outboards. Primarily because of lower maintenance costs. I had two of those ad41's in the Commander I owned. They are a good engine, but parts are CRAZY expensive. A...

25 c dory re core worth it.

I have done many transoms, stringers, and floors myself. The problem with a core hull repair, would be keeping the original hull running surfaces true. Without the boat sitting in a mold, nearly impossible. And upside down, the hull surface is not supported. A wavey running surface affects how...

C-Dory 26 Venture vs. Lakes Michigan and Huron

Take a look at the Seasport 2600 Kenai or Kodiak, 8' or 10' rear deck. Or the 2800 series which is a huge hull, the freeboard is massive. In comparison to the Rosborough, "no comparison".

    We've got a Winner!

Since Dwight retired from working, he has been getting a lot of practice fishing. A LOT OF PRACTICE ! I'm sure more derby money will be coming to him. I need to finish my projects so we can go fishing, he is a fish magnet.

    So, then there is this....

This event over on the " Hull Truth " is meeting with some very harsh words. The Brat community seem to be kinder people. If as Jeff wrote. We filled the pod full of water and the waterline only changed by 1 1/2 " . THEN HOW DID THIS BOAT SINK ? Something is missing ? And on a lake with 1...

    So, then there is this....

Agree with Tom that the insurance topic, is really a non-topic. As an aside is stupid. As an owner of a pod mounted outboard powered Seasport, my pod has NO pass through to the inside of the transom. My rigging cables go through the same fitting used in the Cutwater owners boat. But my fittings...

    South of Heaven

Well reading the replies was thoughtful, and you have been on an interesting journey. And I admire you being able to void yourself of all the STUFF we accumulate in life. Now, I better head to my garage, and try to throw out some of my treasures. Chromer knows I have a lot of treasures, so he...

How about experience with Sea Sports?

All boats have compromises to a intended use and area waters. SeaSports were created by the Wright family in Bellingham, WA, the Wrights have been building boats for about 50 years. The Wrights ended up with the C-Dory molds in one of the recent economic downturns. SeaSports are a lot like...

    22’ Cruiser top speed

Builditonce indicates WOT is 5000 rpm with that 7 person load. As another response indicated 5500 to 6000 rpm is the spec. If your going to load it with 7 persons, you better be closer to the 6000 rpm. Over propped, is very hard on a motor. Exhaust temps get very high.
