Flawed but still interesting comparison- E-TEC and Yamaha

Clearly, The E-tec has far more torque. They should have put on a lower pitch Yamaha prop, to get the rpm's up and help the motor rev up. BUT, the E-tec still would have outperformed the 4 stroke. I had a RF246, heavy hard pushing boat if you wanted to push it into the 20 mph range (...

Seattle Boat Show - Such a sparse showing

There have been a lot of very good comments, about why the C-dorys are not being sold in greater numbers. I do honestly believe there are " new young buyers " coming into the market every day. I believe a lot can be said for a dealership that has there heart behind the product. That enthusiasm...

    Cockpit and deck paint

I used a product called Tuff Coat, it was the smoother texture option . Ordered from Amazon with the epoxy primer. Used on the horizontal surface where the sunlight UV had caused the gel coat to craze. Been on a year so far, holding up very nicely. And the texture looks great. A water based...

Seattle Boat Show - Such a sparse showing

I agree with Starcrafttom, it is a shame. The wine, ambiance, and lighting is already in place, C-brats organization. The dealership may favor there other boat lines, harder to be enthused when you favor your brawny offshore Osprey or Weldcraft. Not the right boat mix ?

Seattle Boat Show - Such a sparse showing

A TomCat and a 23 Venture, does not seem like the dealerships and factory are putting on much of a showing. After walking around, thought, I'm seeing all kinds of aluminum skiffs ( very simple low cost models ). Why is the factory not putting on a larger show ? Off course, the Ranger Tugs...

Another competitor for the C Dory 22.

Having owned the Rf246, I will attest that the side sliding doors are a very handy feature. Ventilation, managing the mid ship cleat line, and access on to the side deck if needed. And mine never leaked water. The side deck and the cabin top rail height made side access very nice. And the RF246...

    2019 Inside Passage

Hardee, Since you reside in Sequim, what would have been the RT cost of the Port Townsend- Keystone ferry ride for your trip to Bellingham gathering. Hard to believe anyone would be willing to drive into that Tacoma/ Seattle traffic mess, just got back last night after a drive into that mess...

    Mercury 60hp Outboards

I have had a 6 hp, 20 hp, 25 hp, 50 hp, and a 115 hp Mercs, all provided lasting service. Not a single one died an early death. All motor manufacturers have had lemons in there line up. Some of the Japanese motors have had Real corrosion issues, and died an early death ie. Yamaha 225 exhaust...

    1980s c-dory 27 project in California

The interior looks very dated, and looks very well worn. But the hull looks Nice, and the back deck is for a fisherman. Great.

    Hoisting my C-Dory

Can not believe what I have just read. Transom tow eyes and bow eyes are for towing. And the actual weight imposed on those components in a towing application, are far different than a lifting situation. Now to the hull. A hull is built with a backbone of sorts, whether on a trailer or in the...

Fishing and crossing the border is about to get easier.

I'm going to buy a Canadian license, not purchase a WA State license, do my fishing on the Canadian side of the line. WA State has made fishing around here unpleasant and very regulated. Not to mention; the resources are going south. Besides, in less than 45 minutes of leaving Skyline Marina I...

Fishing and crossing the border is about to get easier.

Tom, I don't read this as excluding us from the US Border& Customs requirements. Or will it ? The Anacortes office of Customs, is insistent that I would have to return to Cap Sante office before returning to my slip at Skyline. I hope your right. alan

    Sea Star steering leaking

Sounds like you will need a new rod and a seal kit. The seal kit is about $80 dollars, I dont know the cost for a rod. It might be simpler to just buy a new cylinder kit. Bought mine off ebay, I'm thinking it was about $225 ?

tomcat vs other cdorrys for offshore?

A lot of discussion about whether a C-dory can be used " offshore". Offshore areas vary tremendously by geograghic location. I would suggest visiting marinas in the area you are wanting to boat out of. Look around to see what other people are using ! Even the canoe can go out in the right...

water getting into gas on a 2009 c-dory 23' Venture

Good installations require "best practice techniques". Just because the vent fitting had been installed in a location, does not preclude putting it in a better location. Hose loops are the "best" way to prevent water flowing into your tank. Water runs downhill ! Also, the vent line should have...
